Their hit song No Rain was easily their worst song. They put out 2 great albums. I saw them open for Kravitz at UNO lakefront. Great show.

In this case I don't think "underrated" really has much to do with actual rating or whether they are liked by those who are familiar with them. There may be a bit of figurative language at play. Of course terms like underrated and overrated have been muddied to the point where they're fairly meaningless anymore.

Typically:

Underrated = "I like them but most people don't know who they are"

Overrated = "I hate them but everybody else seems to love them"

The Animals were one of the seminal British Invasion bands and were far from underrated. Every one of those songs you linked were big hits for them. They were just freaking awesome.
