OK, so I guess that there might be other gems out there that have gone completely undiscovered by me. I recently--just last week--discovered Ryan Adams. A few days ago, I discovered a song called "Elephant." It was beautiful, deep, and shocking. I went to Rhapsody to find out who this Jason Isbell is...and I was mesmerized. Much like Adams, I didn't find a bad song, yet I discovered 25+ new favorites. He is simply that good.

Thoughts? Opinions? Any other artist suggestions?

For those of you who have not heard Mr. Isbell, here is a great sample.

If you like those two then listen to Sturgill Simpson.

Thank you! I just downloaded both of his albums. "Turtles all the Way Down" hooked me! He sounds nearly identical to Waylon...good stuff!

John Moreland is another good suggestion, he is more country than Isbell, though

Are you a Ryan Bingham fan? If not, check out his latest album Fear and Saturday Night or what I feel is his best, Mescalito.

I just listened to 3-4 songs by each of your recommendations.

1. Cory-I don't like him. At all...none.

2. Ben Nichols-He was slightly better.

3. Tim Barry --He was enjoyable, but he only had 6 songs listed on Rhapsody. Does he have more?

4. Joey Kneisner-Wow! He has a great sound.

5. Austin Lucas-nope.

6. Chuck Tagan-He is a mix bag of YES and Wat?

Caleb Caudle is fantastic! Thanks!

Now...why did you suggest Chris Porter? He seems to be a foul mouthed comedian...which is fine...but we are discussing music. Is there another Chris Porter?

If you like Isbell, get John Moreland's In the Throes album. Best album of last year IMO. Better than Isbells Southeastern
