I have zero musical talent but if you think I have no musical knowledge, you are entitled to your opinion. Just because you like soy milk and I like bourbon does not mean I do not know how to drink.

Thanks for the reminder. I watched last night. As a mild Isbell fan, I came away very impressed by the quality of the doc and the subject. Dude can write some songs.

I am a huge fan of his. Seen him live three times, have all his records, etc.

My issue isn’t that he’s left leaning. My issue is how hateful his rhetoric has been towards those he hates politically. I say hate because he has said some vile things. Just nasty. When I followed him on Twitter, he even told a fan directly he didn’t want people “like him” at his shows bc he said something that went against whatever outlandish narrative the left was pushing that week.

Basically said he would never tolerate anyone with different views yet that is the majority of his fan base. So that begs the question: who is really the intolerant one? Based on his past posts, he would hate me if he knew me personally, yet I still enjoy his music.

Just finished it. Thought he was incredibly transparent and raw and willing to show a lot more than most. I also think his story and journey are incredible, and I thought his relationship with his wife was so powerful to watch

Having said that, the timing of this doc, as some mentioned, seemed odd to me. It felt somewhat dated how much of it was focused on the pandemic and those struggles. I get the other side of the coin stuff, but it felt more dated to me, like they should’ve released this a year ago

Still really liked it and would recommend to anyone who is an Isbell fan or a music fan in general

That argument I am all in with.

I suspect there could be some story, but maybe it’s as simple as coinciding with his current release coming out. A year ago would’ve felt very natural though.

I don’t follow him on Twitter. From a quick glance over his page, I am not seeing anything like that going a few days back.

100% agree totally. Unfortunately I let that cloud my love for his music. Listening to his music about a decade ago is the reason I started playing guitar.

I mean it used to not be this way but not putting kids on puberty blockers is now seen as genocide. So newtons laws and all.

People complain about him being “cucked” by his wife, but it sure seems like she may have saved his life, and he knows it and appreciates it

1. His wife is his Tricia yearwood. The people that go to his concerts don’t want to hear about her and don’t want to hear her music
2. He’s a dick irl

We saw him at Chelsea’s in like 2011 after he broke off from dbt and put out his first album. There were like 12 people there and I brought 5 of them. He wouldn’t talk to us and he ditched right after the show

And then he’s gonna tell me im wrong for going to work and paying taxes and shite

Before I was banned from Twitter, I had to quit following him. Just very disappointing. Dude holds a lot of disdain for a large chunk of his fan base. If he defended the trans activist, it would not surprise me in the least bit.

The past 25 years in music has been the absolute worst era in music since music has been recorded. Every genre sucks these days.

I was at that one. He was fat and still in party mode back then. He played Chelsea’s a couple of times.
