Weren't the Eagles™ once accused of loitering on stage?

Maybe this should be a topic onto itself. But why do people criticize musicians for being too old. These aren't athletes we are talking about here.
I'm not just talking about this case with The Eagles, but I hear it all the time, and I don't get it.

Yes - one of the things that they liked about Joe Walsh was that he brought this thing called "stage presence" to the table.

They were really good musicians and not very good showmen, by and large. Frey tried, but really only Walsh had any natural sense of an audience vibe or how to be a public showman. To a certain degree, they just let the music speak for itself.

And better than any of today's shite. This not coming from a big Eagle fan, and even less of a Frey fan.

The Eagles are what the Foo Fighters are today. There, I said it.

but not musicality

Dave could play drums for any rock band in history not named "Led Zeppelin." And I like a bunch of their songs.

But, the Foo Fighters can't compete with the Eagles, man for man, musically. I agree with that.

They may not be athletes but their skills diminish at some point, especially the voices. Some can last longer than others, but at some point watching a guy, who used to be athletic and dexterous, shuffle around on stage is hard to watch.

Or a big fat Stevie Nicks.

Or in another realm, Stallone trying to be Rambo at his age.

For me, it's not being critical. Just not something I like to watch.

Walsh is a funny guy. He's just a big goofball that you can't help but like. I think it was at one of Clapton's Crossroads Festivals when he was getting ready to play Rocky Mountain Way that he introduced it by saying, "If I'd a known I'd be playing this song for the rest of my life, I'd a wrote something different!"

if there were "unofficial" Eagles, the short list includes Jackson Browne

One of my favorite Jackson Browne songs - "For a Dancer" - features the Eagles on backing vocals. They played it at Belushi's funeral.
