saw Jason play Saturday night in St. Augustine, Fl.
It was honestly top 3 for me with regards to live shows I have been to...possibly the best i have ever been to...the flow of it all and the tightness of Jason and the 400 unit was astonishing...it sounded like I was listening to the record at times...Amanda compliments him so well...Sadler Vaden is a helluva guitarist..Jason seemlessly transitioned from one song to the next..he took that crowd on a journey......and he comes off as humble and gracious...you can tell he knows that this was his second chance to live life after getting sober and he is making the best of it....it was amazing really...that dude has more talent in his pinky nail than 3/4 of the shite artists on radio...across multiple genres, not just country....if you guys like any of his stuff...GO SEE HIM! you will not regret the time nor money spent...oh and he did not perform not one cover song...everything that came off of that stage originated from his mind...awesome!

Seen him 5 times now. 3 times since he has gotten clean. It's like watching two different people. He was good before, but is great now.

I'd love to see him one day. I was reading an article about him in Rolling Stone the other day and he said he had never been on stage sober until 4 years ago. Said that took some getting used to.

yeh.... dude is a great musician. knew about him during the trucker days and then when he came out with southeastern you could tell the dude was a serious all around talent. writes the hell out of some songs

I never saw DBT when they had him...but I have seen youtube videos of him on stage with them...he looks like a different guy now for sure...he was 30-40 lbs over weight and basically killing himself slowly...he is trim and excited now...phenomenal talent...one heck of a guitar player in his own right too...when they did "Flying Over Water" and "Never Gonna Change" he was shredding...it was great..

Between Truckers and the trio and all his solo incarnations I have probably seen him over 30 or 40 times.
I thought the trio was pretty great for awhile, all that self destructive energy and raw emotion. This was immediately after the split with DBT.
He's in shape and musically the best he's ever been. I preferred his leads with DBT, but he's still an incredible guitar player and singer.
Dude is ripped now too. His first tour with DBT was SRO I believe, they played the old Chelseas. What a great, great night and he was fat af.

it was...they were touring that record when he came on board with them....I love DBT...but they were at their best on Decoration Day, Dirty South, and Blessing and Curse...the three Isbell was on...IMHO Hood and Cooley wrote better shite when he was around...and the guitar attack they had...was sick...

Saw him about a month ago. One of the best concerts I've ever been too. He does a great job between songs keeping the crowd entertained also. Can't wait to see him again

what sticks in my head is the NYT quote calling him "one of America's thoroughbred songwriters".
i'm reminded of that every time i listen to him

envious. i've been into dbt since southern rock opera, so before they got big with TDS (which by most standards was not big). an ex of mine told me about them when she was working at a college station and was sent pizza deliverance. 'the name is ridiculous and we get a lot of shitty unsolicited albums, but these guys are actually really good'.
i could tell with TDS they really found their future with isbell added on. blew my mind when i heard he was kicked out of the band and immediately regretted not catching a show with them all together.
