To make it really hypothetical, you decided to just get away from civilization and escape to an island.
You're just hanging out on an island, maybe you have a lady friend with you and endless amount of alcohol.
You have a source to play music (solar powered ipod on a dock, magic record player, etc.)
Sounds like a badass time.
The catch, you can only listen to 1 album there.
What do you choose?

You can get creative with the answers and add more Hypotheticals*

My choice without lady friend; Jimi Hendrix - Axis: Bold as Love (on a big Jimi kick lately)
With lady friend; Probably a Otis Redding greatest hits album.

i mean, i would say stadium arcadium.... but im afraid i would never want to hear it again after that.... it would be a legit test to see how good an album is

Depends on the mood and how much protection against knocking her up I had. If I'm in the clear the whole time, Slow Jamz 2. If not, I'd just rock with The White Album. So many songs of different types on the record so it wouldn't get too stale.

By myself: Loveless by My Bloody Valentine, just because every time I listen to it I hear a new noise or guitar going off in the background. Also if i listen to it that many times maybe eventually I will actually figure out what the frick the lyrics are

With a lady friend: Loveless by My Bloody Valentine, cause if she doesn't dig MBV well frick her

J. Cole's "The Warm Up" (mixtape, not album)

Any true Cole fans would understand

If I was on an island away from civilization, I'm not sure that I'd even want to listen to music. I'd be too busy taking in the sounds of the birds and other animals, surf, wind through the trees, etc.

If I had to pick one album for that particular situation, it would probably be Boheme by Deep Forest.

Can I cheat? Like maybe Motown, Stax, Atlantic Soul/R&B/Gospel compilation box sets? Clapton's Crossroads? The Sinatra Collection?

For a duration that long, I'd maybe choose Classical/Instrumental, Callas, or Bocelli?

I love the Mats/Westerberg, Floyd, Zep, Neil FinnCrowded/Finn Bros, Josh Rouse, Depeche, Prince, Waits, etc..too much to scar myself and come home hating an album of theirs for life..

But, it could cure me of occasional guilty pleasures like Buble, Groban, Streisand, Adele, Gaga, Madonna, Michael Jackson, for good.

Great call, was always a fan back to Uncle Tupelo, but I listened to YHF specifially, like clockwork for all of 2002/2003/2004, never outta rotation. Also, A Ghost Is Born in 2004/2005.

Let me ask the judges... Judges!

Yes, compilation sets are allowed.
