He did donate a skate park in the lower ninth ward last year, however it still isn't open because of insurance issues. I've gotten to skate it before, it's actually pretty fun.

Mountain Dew has more to do with that park than Wayne.

He's probably the best known musician to come out of New Orleans in our generation which is pretty sad

Mtn Dew may have financed it, but it was Lil Wayne's decision to put it in New Orleans.

As a skateboarder, he is being pretty stupid about it. Skateboarding isn't like rap where you talk shite and start "feuds" with others. It is a strong community with people coming from all sorts of different backgrounds throughout the world with one common interest.

I'm glad the guy found an interest in skateboarding, and it does seem legitimate. However, when you diss Humidity Skateshop (THE pillar of New Orleans skateboarding) because they won't carry your dumbass "Trukfit" brand, you are just going to be looked at as a clown by everyone else.

Without a doubt. He is one of the biggest artists of the 21st century.

The thing that sucks the most about it is that he could have been one of the greatest hip-hop artists ever. His early stints with the Hot Boys and Cash Money Millionaires had all the signs of a child prodigy. Throughout the early aughts he improved. Dedication 2 and Da Drought 3 stand as triumphant works of the genre. Unfortunately after that, he fell off and fell off hard. I think a combination of drugs and stretching himself too thin over a variety of projects are to blame. He is certainly no Jay-Z in terms of being able to build and sustain an empire of sorts.

When the Carter 3 dropped he was the best in the game and on his way to being top 5 of all time. Then he just kept putting out weird decisions with his music. Like putting out a rock album. Then he's been on so many collaboration that he's become repettative over the years.

I've met his manager a few times, enough to carry on conversations when we see each other, and from what I can tell from talking to him, Wayne misses home, it's just probably not the best place for him. I think eventually he will end up back in NOLA, but for right now it's probably a wise decision to stay away.
