How do New Orleans Natives perceive Lil Wayne
Posted by Rice-N-Gravy on 9/2/13 at 5:30 pm00
I don't live in NOLA so I wouldn't know what people think of him there. Is Wayne a fan favorite, or are the likes of Juvenile, Soulja Slim etc. ahead of him.

When he chose Brett Farve over the Saints in the 09 NFC championship game, he probably lost a lot of support from the city. And the whole not doing shite after Katrina didn't help a whole lot.

NO would rather listen to Boosie over Wayne. Everybody I know from NO does.
Lost a lot of respect when he wanted the Vikings to win over the Saints in 09. Then he made the green and yellow song for the packers the next year. Around 09 just couldn't stand to listen to him anymore. Boosie>>>>>> lil Wayne

He did donate a skate park in the lower ninth ward last year, however it still isn't open because of insurance issues. I've gotten to skate it before, it's actually pretty fun.

F Lil Wayne.
That dude sucks. He craps on us every chance he gets yet he wants to name drop Rebirth and his NOLA origin in every other song.
How could you possibly root against the Saints if you're from NOLA in the NFCCG? Even if you don't watch sports/like football, you rooted for those guys because of what it meant to our city.

A couple of my friends that are into rap think that he is fake as hell. They don't like whenever he references NOLA.

In the hood he will never get as much love as BG, Slim, and Juvie get. His skills are acknowledged, but past that I don't hear much about him.
He doesn't really come up in barber shop talk, where I usually have lengthy discussions about rap. For ex we were talking about a top five and wayne's name wasn't mentioned, and the ages ran from 40 to 21.

My bad - he didn't build the park he just donated 200k to have it renovated after Katrina. Harrell Park
I remember before he went to jail he said in an interview he was a packers fan this was before they went to the Super Bowl so respect for not jumpin on the saints bandwagon just for the Super Bowl

Yeah, this is the general impression that I have gotten. I don't think that he's even lived in NOLA for quite a while. He doesn't even have a real connection with the city anymore, but he likes to act like he does. I guess that I would sum up my impressions as his being an ignorant a-hole with an overinflated sense of self worth.
