Jimi's playing as if possessed by the Holy Spirit, just amazing.

One of the better songs ever written/composed/birthed.

A better Woodstock performance IMO:

Is it just me, or is the spelling of "chile" just a bit racist?

But Hendrix was definitely one of the better left handed guitarists for sure

why? Jimi intentionally spelled it the way he pronounces it.

Great tune. Of course to each his own.

Greg Rollie for the win.

Check out the other songs, Greg does some singing.

FYI: Greg Rollie founded Journey.

NO ONE(except Jimi and Sly Stone of course) COMES CLOSE to touching the performance of Joe Cocker and the Grease Band at Woodstock.

Little Star Spangled Banner action at Woodstock.

Enjoy. ignore the few seconds of The Who's Who are you.

Wish it showed his hands playing. BTW, he played ~ 90% of that tune with one hand. Also, SSB at WoodstockI Iove when he mugs the camera. lol

The first scene is them coming on stage. Got to love Mitch's leather Stovepipe.

ETA: The video is cut off with about a minute to go. fricking youtube and the Hendrix family.

Sorry about that.

My next post should satisfy. It's not Woodstock, but good.

Damn, breaux.

Where to start.

The album Electricladyland. Had two "Voodoo" songs.

1. First Song - Voodoo Child. Long Blues Tune with Jack Cassidy on Bass.

2. Second Song - Voodoo Chile(Slight Return).

Is it just me, or is the spelling of "chile" just a bit racist?

In what way shape or form?

Jimi was half white and his mom was 100% Indian. I hope you don't think that's racist.

BTW - breauxstradamus, How old are you? Bring your white guilt, ignorant claims of racism to another board, please.

You are wrong once again.

You must be young. It's getting close to your bedtime. Get you mom to microwave two hot pockets, then go to bed.

Also google Jimi Hendrix and get back with us.

Thanks.

How good could he have been if he'd just made it to SRVs 36 years?

How good would they both have been had they made 50?

How much would you pay to see them today? Both alive, old, but could still play? Think somewhere between Clapton and BB King with their hands and the ravages of time?

He was the first guy that it was really well known he was inseparable from his guitar (or guitars). He went everywhere with a guitar and folks would marvel at not knowing where Hendrix ended and the guitar began.

He also took the tone seriously. Jimi wasn't just about hitting all the notes and chords - the available equipment wasn't as good or varied as it is now, but he was involved in all the decisions in his signal chain, knew what tone he wanted and how to get it. In many ways he was like if Clapton and Townshend had a baby, but that baby was raised on Mars.
