Robert Plant was very complimentary of these guys but he heard that the lead singer claims that Steven Tyler of Aeromsmith is his main vocal influence. 
Robert Plant wasn't quite buying that and neither am I. It's not just that his voice has a similar timber, but he says baby a lot, does extremely similar caterwauling, and has the same mannerisms and syncopations as Plant.

I like GVF a lot but the shite about them not knowing who LZ was is bullshite. I've seen videos of their concerts and the lead singer is copying Robert Plants mannerisms not Steven Tyler.

Yeah I could handle the voice but he needs a producer to tell him to cut out all the other shite (the hand gestures, the way he dances, etc). It’s Plant being mimicked.
They do write some good music though.

Bump because I'm behind the times and just discovered them. If you closed your eyes and listened you'd think it was Led Zeppelin.
Watching some videos kind of ruined it for me. The lead singer is.. interesting. And as others have said, he mimics Plan's mannerisms to a T.
Also already mentioned but I can't tell if that's his real voice or not? Either way, the voice and the singer do not appear to go together

They're already one of the hottest new names in rock and are selling out shows. The crowd sizes at festivals is insane for a band that has yet to drop a full album.
FWIW I do hope they find their own sound because they're very talented and it's nice to see old school rock make it's way back into the mainstream via a new band

Yeah, they'll fade away pretty quickly if they don't become less derivative. As it is, I already kind of grew bored with them when I realized I'd rather just listen to LZ.

Good point. I listened to all 8-9 of their songs and was wishing there was more. Then I realized I could just go listen to the LZ catalog and not notice a difference.

This video does a good job in addressing the complaints of GFV. Plenty of bands change up their sound after their second album so I'm willing to wait and see if they're the next great band or another Rival Sons
