Price range of $100(low ball) to $350 for a pair? I have had the same damned pair of sears or radio shack speakers since high school. I assumed they would die. They never did.

I know there is an audiophile thread, but I assume by that threads nature they list things out of my price range like B&W or higher.

Just 100 watt speakers or so. Floorstanding or bookshelf. Either is fine. 5 years ago I almost bought some Yamahas, but never did.

The speakers will be used for home theater and music. Onkyo receiver.

Thanks

I'm a big fan of Boston Acoustics. I've had mine for years. They have speakers that are very pricey, but also models that are a great value and sound great.

Interested in this as well. Was scoping out the polls and pioneers on amazon. Are these the best value? Will I need a sub? Receiver is technics sa-dx1050.

Bostons sound much better and you can find them in the same price range

I assume a typo and you meant Polks? Polk Audio USED to be the shite back when I was a HT installer. It was that long ago. They've been left in the dust. Compared to others in this range though I assume they are ok.

These intrigue me.

Try to find a dealer near you and listen to them in person. I think you'll be happy with what you hear for the price

Check out the ELAC line on musicdirect.com. They are designed by Andrew jones and are constantly winning awards. There are supposed to be the best bang for the buck on the market right now.

Nice website. McIntosh amps....

I remember seeing one during an install back in 1993. Had features on it that we had no clue?

$6500 for a receiver though?

Dayton Audio t652 is about down in that price range. The pioneer Andrew Jones are about double but still affordable.
