Find a safe place where you can listen to him with friends in a comfortable environment.

Just listen to a little at first. Remember, you can always listen to more if you listen too little, but you can't listen less if you listen too much.

And stay away from the brown Sturgill, that's been sending people to bad places man.

Oh yeah, and don't listen to him and then look in a mirror. It gets weird.

Definitely overrated. Just because you sound like Hank Jr. and sing about drugs doesn't make you a special country music artist.

(my first-ever troll ... did I do this right?)

eta: meant to say sounds like Waylon. Eliz Cooke played Hank III, then Hank Jr., then Hank Sr. all in a row yesterday. I had Hank on my mind.

He sounds closest to Waylon in my opinion. Listen to You Can Have The Crown. Genius lyrics.

"Well, they call me King Turd up here on Shite Mountain, if you want it you can have the crown."

Has several really good songs. First album is more traditional country. Second album (Metamodern) with its drug and other themes is disguised more as a country album, but has a lot of really good songs. Sturgill is talented and solid. Can't wait to see him live next month.

You Don't Miss Your Water (Otis Redfing Cover)

Here is a link to a video of a recent performance in which he covered an old Otis Redding tune that serves to provide a sense of his live performance and band.

The boy took When In Rome's "The Promise", an awesome 80s tune, and transformed it into a heartache country sing belted from the gut. He's the fricking man.

Catching him up in Denver for a bachelor party in November.
