It's not like he isn't good, he just isn't say top 5 all time. He lacks the innovation to be considered one of the very best. But he is still a damn good guitar player.

A big part of how I rate my favorite musicians has to do with how few songs they have that I dislike. Clapton's good stuff is undeniably solid but for me, he has way too many songs that I find either boring or irritating.

But his bluesbreakers/cream stuff was nothing short of revolutionary at the time in great britain

Doesn't know how to pace his shows. Saw him twice and thought both shows were snoozefests. Kept waiting for him to rip and he never did.

Clapton hates touring. He played a show in New Orleans in 2010 that was an hour and a half with barely any backing. The reviews said it sucked to put it nicely. He came back in 2013 and put on a bit of a better show.

Where in my post did I debate this? Maybe you're ignorant and stupid.

Careful. People will read this and think that you're debating whether or not he's a good guitarist.

That was a statement for the board not you specially.

Understand now? Maybe you are ignorant and stupid since you have lowered yourself to name calling, dolt.

Kind of like Elton. Early stuff was amazing but 80's 90's stuff was contrived, pop crap. Thinking of his Michelobe commercials.
