because they aren't advocating for white power?

So you're admitting its ok to offend some people but not others?

its hypocritical of them.
precisely my point. They don't like what Anselmo said/did, so they are cancelling the show. That is their right, but that doesn't make it the right thing to do. They are saying "You can only play here if we agree with your thinking and philosophy." That's a craptastic move. frick Anselmo and his racist bullshite, and frick the Civic for their litmus test to perform on their stage.

if they thought ghost or slayer would affect their bottom line in a negative way, they would not have them in their venue.

do you think the civic wants to be seen as a venue who is seen as a place that supports racist views?
some band putting up upside down crosses =/= someone yelling white power from the stage.

Then all they care about is money and not who's offended by the bands

I've never heard Phil advocate genocide.
Look, I'd say it's obvious the guy isn't an actual Nazi. Having said that, he did throw a Nazi salute in public. I don't know what else to add to that to make it seem like the venue was acting reasonably and rationally in their own self interest.

Slayer had giant upsidedown crosses hanging from the ceiling and King Diamond had a giant, light up pentagram for a background. Not to mention Slayer's numerous anti Christian songs and Ghost's pro Satan songs. Why is that allowed if they are so worried about offending people?
You'd have to ask them. Perhaps it's because most people know (at least with Slayer) that it's pure theatrics?

could be as simple as it under selling so far, or them being annoyed by something else related to the booking and a conduct incident being a cheap easy out?
its not like this is anything new from him

It certainly could be anything like that.
I've never known him to throw Nazi salutes before, but I've been out of the loop. I actually got in trouble with my daughter the other day for blasting the end of fricking Hostile in the car with my grandson over and over.

so screaming racist things while nazi saluting and yelling "white power" is on the same level as slayer's stage show or ghosts' satanic message?
you cannot be serious

How does Phil even have a voice after yelling all these years?

I'm still curious how Phil got onstage at Dimebash. I thought Vinnie hated him? Anybody know the story?
Maybe now Pepper will leave and make another COC album.

Vinnie's not involved in Dimebash. Phil is on good terms with Dime's girlfriend and really everyone except Vinnie.
Pepper and COC are currently writing and should begin recording a new album soon.

Can't and Should are two different things. I am well aware of their ability to do what they want, but that doesn't make it right.
So the civic should have no standards at all as to what they want to host and not host?

No that's called owning a business

Is their position really going to impact whether people choose to attend future shows at their venue (even if they chose to let the show go on)? probably not.. or at least not enough to really notice..
They are either generally offended or they're posturing (I'm of the opinion its a bit of both)... either way, it will be forgotten very soon by the masses..
