Pretty much qualified as ´meh´ by all.
Nevertheless, the album has one of the greatest songs of all time
Hand of Fate
Hot Stuff was spot on, for that time period. At least for Europe and New York. The disco song from Some Girls got it for the entire US, but that was probably three, maybe four years later, correct me Kafka.
Hey Negrita, mmh, well, they were in Jamaica, but Crazy Mama is a fantastic tune as well.
Cherry Oh Baby, a nod to what they felt they had discovered, is pretty sad, but lots, I mean LOTS, freak out to Fool to Cry and Memory Motel. Memory Motel is the favorite (favourite) Stones song for ALOT of limeys.
Did this album get hammered because of the incredibly unattainable level of Exile, and the two posterior albums which were really good, but paled in the shadow of a masterpiece?
Wow, I´m sounding like a Stones freak, and believe me, I´m not, I respect them tremendously, but, the stars, the stars (methinks).
I get it, Melody with Billy killed it for everyone.
