Yea like I'll tune it play for about 1-2 mins then it goes out of tune. There isn't any play as far as I can tell. And I bought it brand new it's a epiphone jumbo acoustic

Has to be the peg I would think. I would go to Zeigler. I am sure guitar center would be fine too, I like to support small businesses...

Tim's is the best in the area. But you're going to wait 6 weeks to two months for something like a guitar setup. For something like a setup, you probably can take it to Guitar Center. The tech there can possibly take care of it while you're there. Although i'll issue a caveat: Do not take your guitar to GC for any other work besides a general setup.

Tell me you haven't been playing the same strings for 3 years.

No kidding. I'm surprised at how lazy people can be about restringing their instrument. If I were a guitar teacher, the first thing I'd teach is how to restring an instrument. I wouldn't proceed from there until the student learned how to do this on his/her own.

I had my tele refretted not long ago by a guy in Dutchtown who does guitar work as a side job. He told me he was near Cortana and, on a whim, decided to drop his guitar off to have something done to his headstock (don't remember what he said the job was). He said he had a feeling he might be making a mistake but took it in there anyway. And the tech wound up ruining his neck. My guy said he would never make that mistake again.

Also, I know many guitar techs can be condescending assholes (they're a lot like IT guys). But I value customer service. I prefer a guy that I personally like working on my guitars. And the tech over at GC that I've spoken with came across as mostly an uninterested a-hole. And I believe those are the types of guys who don't give a shite about your gear if you're not a high valued pro.

You said LP....if you live in DS or close to Walker, call Jody's in Walker. He knows his stuff and is usually quick to fix a problem.

I went to GC to get my bass all reset up after letting my cousin use it for a year, the G-Tech there charged me $68 and told me it would be at least 3 days. I dropped it off and went and sat in my car and realized how bad I was about to get screwed so I went back and after making up a story about low funds, was given my guitar back. I went down Florida to Zeagler's and within 20 minutes Mr. Eric had my guitar back to 100% playing condition with a price tag of $5. I'll never give GC another chance to price rape me again, and all of my musician friends have been told this story.

It is unreal the difference between the commercial monster that is GC and the local bizness of Zeagler's. No experience with Tim's but I've only heard good things.

I would always go with a local luthier over a place like Guitar Center. You're going to get better, more personalized service and he's more likely to know what he's doing. For a basic setup, GC is OK but even then, my recommendation would be to get a setup kit from Stewart-McDonald and learn to do it yourself. That way you can get it just the way you want it.

I can say this statement is very accurate concerning the GC in Metairie. I've given up on them.

No my strings are about 3 months old. Clear tone strings. I really don't like them that much tho. Prolly go back to d addrio but I rally want to up to medium strings from light also.

Agreed with exploring Tim's and Zeigler and stay away from GC. another option may be C&M on Florida. Bought my Orange amp there a while back and they were nice.

Try the John Pearse strings. I switched to them for my last couple of changes and haven't looked back.
