Best Kiss album (no platinum or Live)?

Spinoff...
1. Hotter than Hell.
This album just blasts the guitars. It has a feel to it that none of the other albums do. The first side of the record is one of the best. That album had some very interesting photography and art going on that I still do not get, but I am sure sex was the theme. The lyrics to these songs are average at best, but the musicianship and the blasting of Ace on "Got to Choose", "Parasite", "Let Me Go Rock 'N Roll", and "Mainline" are all different, but great in their own right.
2. 1974...their debut effort was damned good and has a great hard rock and garage feel to it. The opening of Strutter, the cool and collected Cold Gin, and the very catchy Firehouse lead up to a great ending of Black Diamond. It's a great album, but it's not one you'll ever want to listen to start to finish without a skip or two. Nothin to Lose might be the worst Kiss song ever recorded...even well into their pathetic "Forever" type songs career.
3. Destroyer..probably has the greatest tracks, overall, and maybe the greatest start of a Kiss album. Then it goes limp to me. It certainly doesn't deserve the name "Destroyer"...but their Alive II played heavily on this album.
4.Creatures of the Night...Carr's drumming. Nuff said. Like an AK 47 shooting return fire at a cannon.
5. Rock and Roll Over...Just because three of the most awesome and timeless KISS tunes in Hard Luck Woman, Dr. Love, I Want You are on there. Rest of the album is fillers, IMO.
6.Unmasked.
Not a fan of any of the others. Love Gun, to me, is pure garbage.

Destroyer. From a purely musical standpoint, it's not close.

Ouch. I Stole Your Love is probably in my top five. Christine Sixteen, Shock Me, Love Gun, and Got Love For Sale are solid also, IMO.
Confession time. I've always had a soft spot for Music From The Elder. It's not really a 'Kiss' album (and far from their best), but I love Only You. A World Without Heroes is cool, and Mr. Blackwell was always a guilty pleasure.

I actually 99% agree with OP. I could nitpick but that list closely mirrors mine.
Not the "best" probably but I find myself going back to Revenge a lot. Just a fun easy listen.

I won't dispute the majority of the OP's list, but the drums on 'Creatures' is too gimmicky for my tastes. It works for some songs, but chokes the groove out of others.
And 'Unmasked', compared to what the band's peers were releasing at the same time, makes me shake my head in embarrassment, lol...

Creatures Of The Night and Lick It Up to me were there best.

I think the first album is really good.. but the first two suffer from horrible production - as does another good album, Creatures. The drum sound is overdone.
I also think Revenge is pretty good.

Yeah, this would be my favorite. Black Diamond is my favorite KISS song.

Love the first three albums and Alive I. There is legit rock on those records.

I agree with Destroyer. Dressed to Kill was pretty solid. I personally like Revenge. Unholy is probably my favorite KISS song.

This is my favorite and you forgot about Deuce.

None. Kiss is hot garbage.

Destroyer.
Because of the cover art and "Detroit Rock City".

As a youth, I played the hell out of Rock and Roll Over and Destroyer. Those are the two I think of when I hear KISS.
