Best 70s Catalogs

The Stevie Wonder thread got me listening and thinking about how pop music experimentation and just truly great instrumentation in pop music never got better than in the 1970s. Many great artists took what acts like The Beatles did in the 60s to the next level.
What are some other artist catalogs to dig deep into from this era? I'm thinking Elton John, Steely Dan, Fleetwood Mac. Any other artists I should spend some time on??

David Bowie and Neil Young both released quality album after quality album in the 70s.
A more under the radar pick would be Brian Eno. His three album stretch from Here Come the Warm Jets to Another Green World is some of the more innovative and interesting pop rock of the era.
Brian Eno- Mother Whale Eyeless
Brian Eno- St. Elmo's Fire

Todd Rundgren. Something/Anything was pure pop (but really good pop) but then he must have discovered acid right after that. A Wizard; A True Star was psychedelic pop with some rock and soul mixed in, as was Todd. As is the case with a lot of experiments, some of it worked - some of it was crap. But the stuff that worked was brilliant.

Led Zeppelin, Yes, Jethro Tull, Pink Floyd, Genesis, ELP, bands like that the 70s were the heyday of soul and progressive rock.

Yeah, didn't include P-Funk, Earth, Wind, and Fire and the Ohio Players but they were incredibly important to the music scene.

Billy Joel, Bob Seger and Springsteen were all legit in the 1970s. Ditto for Jackson Browne and Ronstadt.
I know the Eagles are polarizing, but they're also impossible to ignore.
For acts with a harder edge, Zeppelin, Sabbath and Deep Purple.
Progressive rock was in its heyday as well - Floyd, King Crimson, among others.
Hell, glam has a lot to offer, notably Bowie, Mott the Hoople, T Rex.
For my own personal taste, it is probably Zeppelin, Floyd, Queen and the Eagles.

I completely glossed over those - EWF being my favorite, they were on the "disco" side of funk and, for whatever reason, that combination does it for me and probably why I ended up liking the early/mid Prince stuff (at least through Purple Rain).

fricking great album. I still listen to it all the time. Adventures in a Yorkshire Landscape has some awesome guitar work.

the early 70s were wonderful. I remember walking out of the original Leisure Landing w/ two albums the same day, different directions, both of which I absolutely loved: Poco (the live album) and Yes, the Yes album.
