My dad had quite the collection ruined in the flood.
As did mine as well as I. While I don't know the number, I would estimate my dad had at least 500 records. I would say much more than that in actuality. I had about 200-300 myself. A few years back I thought about getting back into vinyl, but the loss of both those collections pained me too much to start all over. I think I am finally ready to roll with it again. I put the projekt on my birthday list, and I plan to start off my first few buys as:
Tesla: Great Radio Controversy (this is strictly nostalgic, because it was the very first CD I ever purchased when I received my first CD player)
Pink Floyd: Animals (quite possibly my favorite all-time record...my dad loved this one and turned me on to it)
My Morning Jacket: At Dawn
Fleet Foxes: Fleet Foxes
Love and Rockets: Seventh Dream of Teenage Heaven (I played this record more than any other of my collection... it's wonderful on vinyl)
I'm not certain how difficult to attain any of these are, but it's my dream starter list.

We actually saved his vinyl collection. I was talking about his cassettes. Sucks to hear your dad lost his vinyl. I feel like they are the heirlooms to our generation.

Just a helpful hint...
Try to put the speakers on a different shelf/stand from the turntable. The vibrations from the speaker negate any and all benefits of the table if they are on the same shelf.
The numero uno goal in all audio is to limit any vibrations on all gear.

Thanks. That's the intention, but we just put out house on the market, so we're currently in "decluttered" configuration.

Perfectly stated. It's why I still get sad thinking of all those records being lost.
Hum is the tits by the way. Nice play!
I feel your pain right now. We just finished selling our house and moving into a temporary rental. My stystem is thrown together for now, but it's not how I ideally would like it. We are finally starting to settle in. I had to send my crossover to Paradigm for repairs. As soon as it returns I am dedicating a day to proper setup.

Amp is 100W per channel at 8 ohms class AB design
Schematic and detailed amplifier information
Amplifier voltage rails are +/- 42V with a 350VA transformer, 35A rectifier, 4700uF 50V capacitors giving a seriously strong overbuilt supply------ with a 42V supply (42/sqrt(2))^2)/8 = 110W
Preamp has volume, bass, and treble controls as well as a preamp output on the back included for daisy chaining amps together
Preamp schematic and information
Every part i ordered from digikey.com or mouser.com except the transformers
Speakers box was designed by me using the free software hornresp (you can design every type of box you can possibly think of including every horn loaded enclosure with it) The woofers are 6.5" peerless HDS and the tweeters are morel, boxes are tuned to around 42Hz if i remember correctly, it sounds like there is a subwoofer in the room when there really isnt
I built this between high school and college believe it or not

Jimmy Cliff--"The Harder They Come--Original Motion Picture Soundtrack", Island Records, 180g reissue, 1972/2012.
Many original reggae vinyl records are not manufactured well--the pressing plants in Jamaica just were not on par with the rest of the world, and thus the plastic was cheaper and usually had hundreds of micropits in the grooves.
