Louisiana sludge at its finest...

Acid Bath "When The Kite String Pops", 1994 Rotten Records

Dudes were so ahead of their time, it's a shame it ended so soon. I was lucky enough to be around these great musicians for a couple of years. Jimmy Kyle, the drummer was a frickin beast!!

Next time we see you I have a small LED light for you--it will illuminate the platter from behind and look pretty cool at night with a translucent LP such as the orange one you have on now.

I picked a few of the LED lights up at the dollar store!!

Acid Bath "Paegan Terrorism Tactics", 1996 Rotten Records

The second and final Acid Bath album, released months before a drunk driver took the life of bassist Audie Pitre. The band couldn't go on without him...

Yeh... nobody had it around here.

Got it off amazon with prime shipping. Paid a little more than I wanted, but I don't have to worry about it getting here.

Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman, & Howe--self titled...Arista Records, CD, 1989.

This album's catalog number is 90126--kind of a roundabout (pun intended) stab at Chris Squire, who took possession of the name "Yes" after the band's quarrels. If you remember, the popular Yes album before this was "90125".

This album is one of my all-time, take to the grave, favorite records. The song "The Meeting" is beautiful...

Phish--"Lawn Boy"...JEMP Records, 2 LP, 2013 RSD limited release, #1021/3000, 1989/2013.

This was never previously released on vinyl.

The studio version of Reba on this album rivals some of the best live versions.

So I've been REALLY tempted by a "big ticket" treat yo'self item lately. Been smart with money and aggressive paying off student loans for the last 2 years, but I want to do something fun and stupid for a change. One of the things I'm considering splurging on is a pair of KEF LS50's. They're obviously highly regarded, but would it be worth if for me to buy them if my music library is almost entirely 128 and 256kbps MP3 files? Assume another $300 on a Yamaha type receiver to power them.

ETA: Or should I sell two kidneys for a McIntosh setup?

Just got Gorillaz limited Vinyl Me Please release of "Demon Days." Really frickin stoked as I much prefer paying $27 vs. $140+ as it's being listed for resale on ebay.

Just curious. I bought a Pioneer SA-9800 Amp back when I was in the service. Loved it and some how a roommate managed to blow it. Been trying to find somewhere to take it to be fixed. Would love to get it working again.

Congrats on having a little cash to burn on yourself...it's nice to reward yourself every once in a while!

Question...why the LS50? (Good speaker--just curious why that one). Do you have room for a floor standing loudspeaker?

At $1500 a pair, I will ALWAYS recommend a floorstanding loudspeaker--the old saying "there is no replacement for displacement"--you will get WAY more low end with a full cabinet. There are a few deals on full size to be had.
