Good video talking about what DC has done wrong, but I'm glad to hear apparently Wonder Woman is doing right: LINK

That is certainly true.

Placing the WW movie during the time frame of World War One was a creative choice. That is how this started out. It sounds like a risky - at best - creative choice. There were a few quibbles but I think the consensus was that World War One is pretty much the most depressing event in the history of the world.

From what I can tell, this movie is about bringing hope and light into man's cruel violent world. So wouldn't a depressing event such as WW1 be the logical choice? Also, it could lead to a second movie in which Wonder Woman returns as a result of WW2.

WWI is a perfect war for the villain of the story because it is literally just fighting and perpetual death without any real clear goals in mind. For the villain that I won't mention, it is exactly the kind of perpetual warfare that he would want so in this regard I actually the decision a lot.

To put it in TigerDroppings context:

"Trench Warfare" is Ares' favorite category on PornHub.

My favorite reviews are the ones by people that obviously hate superhero movies but have to admit that they enjoyed this one enough to recommend it.

Well, I was thinking about the animated Wonder Woman, which I like a lot.

In that version, Steve Trevor not only has a pretty good dog fight sequence in what are kinda sorta F-22s, he gets to save Themiscyra with the invisible plane.

All that is off the table in a WWI setting. We'll see if they made it work.

Since nothing like F-22s existed during the time, WW2 wouldn't work for this scene either.

Back down to 96%.

Your third rotten review:
quote:

“Wonder Woman” may be a step in the right direction when it comes to getting the DCEU on track, but it still falters in too many places to get itself up to an acceptable level. Once again, it appears that the writing is mainly to blame, for while the characters are certainly better than we’ve seen in the past couple of DCEU entries, the narrative is still rather weak, putting the film into a slump that it’s never really able to get out of.

If your argument for placing a story in WWI is novelty, a whole bunch of film makers have avoided the novelty of it perhaps for the reason I say - World War One is the single most depressing event in history.

I mean, Magneto's origin story features Auschwitz.

That would contradict her line from Batman vs. Superman: "I left man's world 100 years ago.."

I'd really question the "wronged party" thing here- the Serbs were more than willing to turn over the assassin and his co-conspirators, Austria (and more importantly Germany) wanted a freaking war and were just looking for an excuse.

This much is true. I forgot about that line.

I'm really not jonesing for Wonder Woman to remain a mostly period character. Besides, her new job may be to carry the DCEU with Batman.

Fine with me. A modern day setting would have worked fine. The first showings here are tomorrow; I will doubtless attend.

I only got about 20 minutes into Suicide Squad before I walked out, so wish me luck.
