Yeah how dare he have a sponsor
Did Siskel and Ebert ever advertise on the air for a company that promoted a specific genre of film?
And look into the nerd boxes. They have you subscribe to a service for about a hundred bucks a month only to give you about 10 dollars in merchandise. It's just dirty. They give like one guy the Lego Death Star a month to say that it's a worthwhile investment, but even so he spends more money on his nerd box subscription regardless if he instead just went out and shelled $500 for the Lego Death Star. That's how they make a living; fooling people to pay over double for the Lego Death Star and never receiving it. That speaks a lot about Jeremy Jahns as a person, and the same that Chris Stuckmann doesn't go to the same level.

We're at about 10% of reviews in.

There's a difference between Roger Ebert and a YouTube channel.

Is there when one of your sponsor clearly extorts people? As I said Stuckmann and RedLetterMedia refuse this kind of thing out of principle, so why Jeremy Jahns such a whore here to rip off his fans a grand a year over nothing?

I know for a fact that I'm in the minority here, but I thought they got Deadshot right as well. I would absolutely love to see Deadshot vs Batman on the big screen, if even for a second.

Luckily, they deftly took the reigns from Zac Snyder and handed them to Patty Jenkins, the first woman to direct a Superhero film – and it has paid off in spades.
I hope to God that DC recognized that Zack Snyder is the problem here and why MoS and BvS bombed.
Someone please tell me that DC is getting rid of him after Justice league is done. He's a one trick pony that has no business directing a major project like the DCEU.

Judging from the scores, this is more an 80% level film. It's got some things going for it that is putting it high:
1) All the films released previously are massive piles of shite that should have never been seen.
2) The new feminist angle where you can't be seen as sexist. For example the new Ghostbusters is rated higher than Inter-fricking-Stellar.
3) If it's passable, then it's great for them.
That's the impression I'm getting: it's passable but not great. I've heard from multiple reviews that the Dark Knight Rises is still better. So I'm thinking that's the case. For the first time, I won't leave the theater enraged with a DCEU movie. I guess that's a step in the right direction.

It's amazing what can happen when Zack Snyder isn't in charge of making a DCEU movie. That man is truly a dumpster fire of a filmmaker and storyteller.
I'm praying to god that the higher ups at DC are coming around to this unfortunate and inconvenient truth as the profit margins for DCEU movies so far are the best evidence of that.

Not my fault you posted a review that accurately portrayed as this Wonder Woman movie succeeding thanks to Snyder's absence and lack of involvement.
It's like you have no problem with taking bullshite from Zack Snyder and calling it chocolate but you still won't eat it because deep down you know the truth.
Snyder needs to be fired as soon as possible.

It's unfortunate I now feel guilty about it knowing about his personal life.

You can keep those two thoughts separate you know?
You can feel empathy for Zack and his family as they're dealing with a completely awful tragedy that nobody should ever go through and still think he's a dumpster fire disaster of a storyteller and filmmaker that needs to be removed from DCEU chair and fired from DC altogether.
Business decisions like that are not personal, they're just rational choices made to advance the bottom line of the company and cut losses wherever and whenever they occur.
But still, DC should give him a very, very generous severance package for his family as they try to recover from their grief.

You've said this a thousand times. The same phrases, over and over. We get it. Move on.

+1 he was one of the few bright spots of that terrible movie. I liked Smith as DS.

quote:I hope that's not the case, as I just didn't care for that film much at all. It was very underwhelming, and little fun either. I'd say it gets the comic fan version of "social justice warrior" support- you can't DARE criticize it, or people will come after you.
I've heard from multiple reviews that the Dark Knight Rises is still better.

50 reviews in and we're still above 95%. I think this film will be a critical success.

I agree for the most part. That said, this isn't like Ghostbusters. There was never that kind of backlash and this movie was never that polarizing. I absolutely refuse to believe that 75 percent of critics genuinely liked Ghostbusters. I would say that's the worst movie I saw last year, behind even Suicide Squad. However, I can believe most critics like Wonder Woman. Some guys I usually trust not to be seriously influenced by politics already seem to like this.

I don't find this hard to believe at all. Certain aspects of TDKR were head-scratchers, and some people on the internet seem determined to retroactively convince everyone it's the worst comic book movie ever, but that doesn't change the fact that the movie was a enormous critical and box office success. Marvel would be thrilled if every movie they made was as positively received and as financially successful as TDKR. It wouldn't be fair for me to judge the movie yet, but I ultimately find it hard to believe Wonder Woman will be better (at least, in my opinion). Gal Gadot is beautiful, but she isn't a great actress, and it's hard to see her carry a full movie. That said, it can still be fun and help get the DCEU back on track.

Between this thread and the one last week where you whined that it wasn't fair that you couldn't celebrate Zack Snyder's departure from Justice League due to his family crisis, I'd say you're coming across as a bit of an a-hole.
Posted on 5/30/17 at 6:49 am to TotesMcGotes
I would not be surprised if Chris Pine really carries the movie. He's a pretty good actor who's high on charm. So while Gadot will obviously be the action, he's the heart.
But I could be wrong. I'm getting pumped now, so I hope these reviews keep up.

No not at all I think it suffered from following a top 5 Comic Book movie all time. and One of the best action movies ever made.
Accompany that with some even saying they liked Batman Begins better. It had a mountain to climb to get close to it's two predecessors and unfortunately it couldn't do it. But all in all not a terrible movie Definitely better than any other DC movie put out since. Wonder woman may end that but we will see
