And here we are with everyone saying how this one is going to be great.
Everyone?
You were literally the first response in this thread. You called it "garbage" before anyone had a chance to say that it will be great. The responses after your post were hoping that the movie would be mediocre to good.
We all have access to read the posts on this board. You can't just make stuff up and then expect us to believe you.

For some reason though it becomes highly irrational when it comes to comic book movies. It's like everyone's usual good taste in movies falls by the wayside and everyone runs out and buys Wonder Woman pajamas.
This is nothing new.
But it's because the movies are highly focused on nostalgia (or should be but aren't in some cases, which can be a problem). This taps right into the power of memory, of myth. Powerful stuff in general. Superheroes are our tales of Achilles. Our exaggerations of Billy the Kid. Etc.
We don't have a General Patton dime store novella. Comic books are that replacement. For the good and the bad.

WTF are you talking about?
Okay, I overstated that. They aren't saying it will be great, but they will fight to the death anyone who points out it looks like shite.
If you look closely you can also see them reaching for their wallets so they can pre order their tickets.

Have you read the other DC film threads? The overwhelming majority of posters disliked both BvS and Suicide Squad.
Hype was high on both before release, though. Many even thought SS would save the universe because it was so different and lacked true Snyder control. Thus...

The board has been pretty cautious about the Wonder Woman movie as well.
This is true.
Heck, the Twitter stream prior to BvS actually got me excited for that film regardless of my hesitation coming from MoS. The hype was unbelievably high with people coming out of that calling it the greatest comic book movie ever made.

Calling Wonder Tits lame?
Them's meet me at the Sonic on gov't words.
Ok, so every time Superman goes evil she's more or less his cocksleeve. But still her solo stuff can be fun when the go full Greco.

I like tits as much as the next guy, but I'm not paying 10 bucks and wasting 2 hours of my time for that. That's what the internet is for.

We know it's going to be awful.
They took the wrong lessons from Nolan (gritty only works because Batman only active and story is mostly coherent) and Green Lantern (spectacle of spaghetti at the wall with no story does not an Iron Man cornerstone make)
And instead mashed the two into Frankenmovies that barely have a spirit of fun.
Edit:
I'm certain the WB animation staff love being able to get away with everything.

We really do, it's not like these movies are made in a vacuum. Every site has been scooping up whatever little trash tidbit comes up. WB somehow still doesn't know how to make a hype trailer for this.
It's all been Cliff, plane, window, butt sword (it's ok she's clay)

critics must really be torn on this one. they can white knight for this like they did for ghostbusters...or crap on another dc film. it must really be difficult.

No it won't. It's already trending towards a 100 million dollar opening weekend.
Not there yet and let's see if tracking keeps going up.
LINK
quote:
Warner Bros’ next DC Universe movie, Wonder Woman, came on tracking this morning with projections at an estimated $65 million-plus. One non-WB analyst tells Deadline that the pic looks strong across all quads, male and female, and is off to a very solid start four weeks away from its June 2 release date. .
. .
The anticipation at present is that Wonder Woman ascends to $75M next week. Currently, Wonder Woman‘s opening weekend is on par with the feature starts of such other big superhero properties as 2011’s Captain America: First Avenger ($65M) and Thor ($65.7M).
Also, opening weekend take isn't exactly the best indicator of whether a film under-performs (i.e. see Batman v. Superman - 166 million opening weekend but less than 900 million worldwide total).

The initial reports had it at $100 mill, they quickly changed them to $75 mill. Not sure who had jumped the gun, but the higher number was everywhere before everyone corrected.

I rest my case.
I come as a friend. Think of this as an intervention. Some of you have a problem and are in denial.
As treatment I recommend that you stare at those gifs I posted. The only way to come to terms with reality is to face it.

Eh, Superman is still seen as seminal film. Most people love Batman/Returns. And Nolan's trilogy is generally regarded as one of the great film trilogies.
Sure, Catwoman, Jonah Hex and Green Lantern got some heat, but are we really going to debate that? Superman Returns and Man of Steel both had fairly good responses. It's really only been BvS and SS recently...and again...even if some of it was exaggerated, it's not like a majority of the criticism was unfounded.

I just don't get why someone would want this film to fail?
Man of Steel was okay, BvS wasn't horrible IMO (I think it is railroaded for being the worst ever, when it isn't even close to that), but sure as he'll wasn't great by any measure. Suicide Squad sucked balls.
This is pretty much the only one that at least to me looks like it may be remotely decent. Dare I say, good?

Saying it will and wanting it to are two different things, and they get mixed up.
It's a comic book movie, there's almost no way this fails. Even bad word of mouth won't kill it.
It just may not be good, but that's the case for any movie. The pedigree for it is not good either.
