I am going to see it first chance I get. I haven't missed a comic book movie in years.

I've actually liked the trailers thus far and thought Wonder Woman was one of the better parts (granted very limited) of BvS.

Sure you can find parts to mock, like in those gifs. But hell want any of the "Everything Wrong With" videos on Youtube. They can make any movie seem terrible.

You guys have fun.

You're really complaining about CGI in a superhero movie??? I hope you were splashing LMAO emoticons all over threads during the CA:The Winter Soldier ballwashing on here. That final fight scene with the helicarriers crashing in the background might as well have been done with an Etch-A-Sketch.

It's funny. When I was a kid reading comics (wasn't super into them but read them) I was way more of a Marvel fan. And when Iron Man kick-started the MCU I loved it.

Then I started coming here and the over the top bashing of the DCEU by the Marvel fanboys (yes, the term fits) and, to a lesser extent the Superman fans, has almost pushed me into the DC camp. I rewatched BvS Ultimate the other day. It is one of the most entertaining comic movies. The action and fight scenes surpass almost anything in the MCU. Compare the fight scene where Batman rescues Martha Kent to that CA:CW airport farce. Not even close. There's more dramatic tension in a Dancing With the Stars routine than that "fight" scene. (But, but...colors! Whimsy!)

Look, movies are primarily a visual medium and superhero movies particularly so. And even the Snyder bashers here begrudgingly admit he is a master at the visual aspect of film. I think Snyder was I'll served by his editors more than anything. I prefer the dark, gritty look of MoS/BvS. But I still enjoy the MCU. What amuses me are the MCU defenders here who demand every movie look exactly the same or it's garbage. Why can't we enjoy both styles?

Before any of them worry about how it looks they need to work on storytelling. When you screw that up your movie is going to suck no matter what it looks like.

Same here. This place is full of Marvel apologists. I'm pretty indifferent about the Marvel films, but the over the top praise of these films is absurd. Most of them are just silly blockbusters.

Yeah, that was like a 15 min toy commercial they decided to shoehorn into the film.

However, there's also some very reliable posters on another site that I'm on a lot (box office theory) that have seen it and they didn't like it very much. One of them says it's a "borderline mess" of a film. TIFWIW.

Do you have a link for this? I'm very curious and would like to read it.

The original reports came around the end of January- Sasha Perlman Raver (Screen Junkies News) was quoted as hearing an "Insider" say the movie was a disjointed mess. Here's a link to her twitter concerning the reports. The original story was reported widely.

We went over that snippet of video and her stepping away from her original "info" months ago. She did a short blurb in the middle of a podcast, dozens of websites turned it into clickbait headlines, no one could corroborate. They all just sourced that one remark that she'd made in the podcast. She felt bad about it after and put out the tweet telling people that the click-bait articles were turning her into news when it wasn't news.

It's the first female lead superhero movie. Critics are going to pump it up even if it sucks.

This is what I hope doesn't happen, but like it's been said, it will happen lol.

When I first heard they were doing a standalone Wonder Woman movie I cringed because I thought it would be feminist bullshite. But from what at least I've seen from the trailers, I think it looks like it will be okay.

I'm not sure what to make of your idea that the criticism some DC films has gotten was their failure to be different in style (subtext color palate).

I don't see that as the issue at all. The Nolan stuff was generally well received (especially the first two of the trilogy). The old Burton Batmans are also darker, but well liked in general. MOS was a mixed effort, but much better liked than the more colorful Superman a handful of years before. SS looked great in the previews but was just empty when it came to a compelling story.

It just hasn't been the color palate IMO. People have just added that as an additional talking point when the story has failed like in B vs S, SS, or the Green Lantern.

If Suicide Squad had been as much fun as the previews or B vs S had been as good as Batman Begins the board would have been in full happy geek out mode. Very few people are so miserable that they can't enjoy a compelling movie.

As in, people who REALLY like all of the prequels and find value in them. I'm not sure i know a single person who does.

My 3 and 4 year old nephews love the prequels.

And honestly, that's who Star Wars is intended for: children.

fricking fanboys cannot grasp that and get pissed about their childhood being ruined because of the prequels, without realizing that the prequels gave them exactly what they were saying they wanted: movies for kids.

I really enjoy the prequels now that I can watch them with kids. They get excited when the music starts up, or a light saber ignites. And their excitement is infectious.

Say what you want about Jar-Jar, but children love that character, which was his purpose.

This is where I stopped reading.

Look...are there some like this? Sure. I've never understood being a fan of one of the big houses or the other, but there are some like that. For me, comics and heroes are all the same whether DC or Marvel. Personally, I grew up MUUUUUUUUUUUCH more of a fan of DC, but that was only because of access. I watched Super Friends on Saturday mornings and except for Spider-Man, Batman and Superman were simply far more ubiquitous than most Marvel guys.

So my dislike for what WB has trotted out has nothing to do with liking Marvel more or bashing DC to prop up my "favorite." It's actually the exact opposite. Because I love many of the DC heroes so much I actually have some expectations for the depictions on screen. It's just not enough to roll them out there and have me cream in my pants because they are finally on screen together. And on top of that, Snyder inclusion and WB's desire to alter core principals of their main heroes has turned me off of their universe.

Simply put...I've come to bash what WB has pout out because it's actually sucked. That's not on me, it's on WB and DC. If there was ANY movie I wanted to love more in the past 10 years than BvS I can't name it. But it's not my responsibility to laud them when they do a shitty job just because I love the property. It's actually their job to do it well because they already have a fan base in place waiting to love them. Box office aside, they have largely failed at this.

As for WW, I want desperately for it to be good. But given WB and DC are basically 0-3 as far as I'm concerned, I'm not holding my breath...but I'll almost certainly go see it after a week or so of reading reviews of people I respect and tend to agree with. But again...it's not on me to like them because I am a fan...they actually have to make a goods movie.

Ugh. Not all children's movies are created equal, the reason most of us love Star Wars is because they were great when we were kids and they remain great into adulthood. Your paint chip-eating nephews are gonna grow up one day and realize how terrible those movies are. That didn't happen with most of us and the original trilogy.

In summary, shut up.

Hype/skepticism about a DC movie and bashing the star wars prequels? If we can just get some GOT theories going, this might be the last thread we ever need!

shite, almost forgot, John Wick.

Ding ding ding. I still haven't seen a person on this board who wants DC to fail and Marvel to succeed on the flip side. More likely there are people who want DC and Marvel films to fail because "too many comic book movies."

To think the DCEU has been a failure so far, or that individual films are not very good, does not mean that they want DC to fail.
