I'm talking who's a better actor not what movies are better, but to answer your question I'd take Adaptation over both of those. Hell, I'd rather watch fricking The Rock over Dance with Wolves. That movie sucks. I won't argue against Field of Dreams cause it's a great movie with a great story. Costner had little to do with that movie's success IMO.

No doubt Tombstone is the greatest Earp movie. Wasn't saying it was better. But I enjoy it.

I'd love to see Nick Cage do a Wyatt Earp movie Eddie Murphey style where he plays Doc, Virgil, Wyatt and Morgan.

Honestly I don't like dances. and would watch the rock over it. But Connery makes that movie. Not cage. All around dances is a loved movie. But it's not something I like to watch multiple times once was enough

Yep. Cage's son caused him to buy 15 homes, an island, a $1 million car, a $30 million dollar jet, a $20 million yacht (one of four yachts he owned at the same time).

He's an actor with limited range but is good at what he does all the same. His main problem is with accents. He's never been good with them. He was the only actor in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves with an American accent.

John Wayne played John Wayne in every movie he ever made and he is still the biggest American star Hollywood has ever had. Costner is fine. I think it just became Internet cool to dump on him so everyone piled on.

I don't understand how people like field of dreams. It's incredibly cheesy and the mom/wife is one of the most annoying characters I've ever seen. I watched it in a few English classes in high school and thought it was bad even for a "school" movie.

I like him although I don't know if he has a lot of range. And he failed to speak with an English accent that one time.

This.
Pacino, Deniro, and Liam Neeson all play the same character almost every time.

Bull Durham, Field of Dreams and Dances With Wolves were very good movies and he did good acting jobs in them. I also thought he was good as Devil Anse Hatfield.

Other than that, a pretty mediocre body of work. But heck, that's nothing to sneeze at.

As usual, I agree with Freaux. I'm not sure why Costner was compared with Cage, as they are entirely dissimilar. What's great abut Cage is that he approaches even truly terrible movies as serious parts and he throws himself into the role 100% even though, well, the movie kind of demands a certain amount of coasting. It's why his bad movies are so entertaining. His over the top performances really stress how awful the script is, and how much everyone else is mailing it in.

Costner is a limited actor who seems like a decent guy off screen. He is great at playing the Everyman. He can't really carry a movie, but he will never turn in a "bad" performance. He's a pro. A lot of the Costner hate is carryover from a previous era in which he was the biggest actor on earth and there as some resentment a guy that "meh" was Hollywood's biggest star. But now that he's just a guy who shows up in moderately successufl, middle of the road Hollywood fare, I don't get the hate. Unless you just hate the fact he's not a "risky" actor or you just hate Hollywood films made for grownups.

Oh, and No Way Out was awesome.

I have nothing to add to this thread other than I pissed next to him one time at Superior in Shreveport. He was drunk as hell.

yeah i was wondering what the OP is talking about b/c he hasn't really gotten shite in like 10+ years

he did come out of nowhere with like 3 major movies though. i literally saw 3 previews for his movies a few months ago before one movie
