Everyone is and has been focused on taking good movies from the past and remaking them for current times, sometimes failing horribly with the remade version.

1) Any examples of someone taking a crappy original product and remaking it into a much better movie?

2) Which would you want to see given this treatment?

The problem is usually they remake a good or great movie and the result is awful. You're on target with remaking low budget movies that were based on a good idea. I can't remember the name of the one I'm thinking about, but it involved a spaceship transporting various galactic creatures bound for a home planet zoo that crashes on Earth setting the creatures free.

Dare I say Ocean's 11 is a good example of this? The original was not a bad movie by any means, it was a Rat Pack flick. But the Soderberg remake had a better plot, much better caper, and still has one of the best cast chemistry examples I’ve ever seen. It’s from start to finish a much better movie.

Haven’t seen this in a long, long time, but I don’t remember it being a bad movie.

BloodRayne

I always thought it had potential, but that was easily one of the most laughably bad movies I’ve ever seen.

Love it. Also imagine if A24 redid Killer Clowns From Outer Space

I’d argue it’s the best movie ever made that features beastiality. Don’t forget, Lea Thompson fricked a duck.

I was always fond of “Airheads” (a mediocre movie). There are a lot of themes of corporate greed and social media that could be weaved in to make it modern.

1) The Thing
2) Sphere

Edit: I realize I skimmed over the horrible original part for The Thing lol. Have only seen bits and pieces from the 1951 version but the 1982 one was incredible. My bad lol

Spawn. I actually like the movie, but it could be so much better. The CGI devil was particularly bad although John Leguizamo's demon was great. The HBO animated Spawn gives you and idea how good it could have been. I've never seen Dark Tower, but I know it's bad. That should be remade as an HBO series not a single movie.

I'm honestly surprised that in the age we are in with superhero movies, that we do not have a Spawn remake.

Electric Dreams made in 1984.

Premise was a SF dude bought an AI automated home system. It developed consciousness and became obsessed with the owner's hot neighbor. Both fall in love with her. Comedy-drama.

Seems relevant now. Could make it a comedy horror.
