quote:My youngest is 20, but if I had a group of kids, then definitely- the Disney classics would be a no-brainer.
My wife and I were talking about how much money Disney would make if every six months they rereleased one of their classics in the theaters (a summer and holiday release).

The Dark Knight.
I saw it in the theatre again recently. Doesn't hold up.

Ben Hur at the old Broadmoor before they split it up.
I saw El Cid, The Alamo, Birth of a Nation, How the West was Won and many others there, but never Ben Hur and another one Lawrence of Arabia that would have been great at that large screen.
Speaking of How the West was Won, since it has been restored and they fixed the difference in the lighting between the 3 cameras, it would come of as the epic it could have been. At the Broadmoor it looked very bad on the curved screen, as 1/3 was one lighting, the next another and the last 1/3 different than the other 2. The split in the 1/3's detracted from the movie on the screen.

That's what's great about living near an Alamo Drafthouse. They just had an Indiana Jones marathon showing all 4 movies this past weekend.
They did ET recently too.
Always showing something older and classic.

With all the great movies mentioned in here, I didn't see "Heat" mentioned.
That bank robbery scene were the realest sounds I ever heard. I've tried to do it on my own surround sound but nothing comes close to how good those machine guns sounded at the theater.
