Obama took it over with help of the liberal media, gay agenda, and the muslims. They're all in it together I say

Me too. Nowadays I just sit in my rocker, staring out the window (a bit of drool on my chin), yelling at kids (real or imagined) to get off my lawn.

You need to find the military history channel. That's where all your WW2 stuff will be.

History sucks now, H2 is only good when they aren't just reruns of alien and monster crap. Both pretty much blow during prime time.

I do like the Henry Rollins show though.

I wish they would bring back the Brad Meltzer show. I was hooked on it.

They do come out with neat stuff like how the states got their shapes and history of slang every so often.

Modern Marvels was good. Cities of the Underworld was pretty good. How the States Got Their Shapes was good.

However, History only puts out garbage now. Even their miniseries like Texas Rising are crap.

Have you seen "our" elected officials in every facet of government? It's more than just the viewing public.

The Big Question is how do you fix focusing on "History" but not just WW2? Vikings is rather interesting and was perfect for the channel.

How to fix the History channel:
Bring Back Modern Marvels
Produce another 1 or 2 shows like Vikings
Start a series that mimics A&E Biographies, and do more than just Hitler
Don't Focus only on Military History
Put a prime focus on Education of what history really is, ie Maybe a "No Reservations" show that features a good, charismatic host diving into a local culture for 72 hours.
Sprinkle in worthwhile reality television related to history.

As someone in the "older" generation, I'm sick of the oldsters calling out the youngsters for all the crap we've created.

The youngsters have their issues, but I'd prefer to be with them over people my age any day.

I would love to be that host. I'm young, I'm sarcastic and nihilistic, I love "Parts Unknown", I'm well traveled and well versed in history. Give me an unlimited travel budget and a camera crew and I'll give you history and ratings gold.

Swamp People and Axmen were interesting for one or two seasons, but after that it seems like if you've seen one season, you've seen them all. I feel the same about Pawnstars, Am. Pickers and Counting Cars. Other than Vikings, it's been a very stale channel lately. They def need to bring back some Modern Marvels and Engineering an Empire.

They could literally do like a hundred of these. I love that show. I also love shows like Battle 360 that shows in CGI how the battle is set up and fought, instead of just someone talking about it and watching random clips.

Yup. Maybe they just aren't popular enough but there are countless battles (not WWII!), empires, and stories that could be told in a half-hour show. Would be awesome.

This

The American viewing public gets dumber and dumber with each passing year. Reality shows get tons of viewers and are a pretty good return on investment I'd imagine.

And this.

It's sad, because I badly miss the quality history mini-documentaries narrated by Edward Hermann (RIP). But alas, even the History Channel has fallen victim to selling out its programming to cheap reality shows.

I'm not saying something interesting happened every year, but western civilization is around 8,000 years old. Eastern civilization is almost twice that old.

History channel shows very little history.

MTV show no music.

Cartoon Network shows live action shows.

The Learning Channel doesn't show educational programming.
