I'm surprised someone else mentioned it. I love space opera series. DS9 is in my top 10 series, but B5 was just awesome. There was a story and it was told. Not many filler episodes. I'm watching x files and the monster of the week episodes are not my favorite because they are filler.

And to make it clear: Omar is Washington, GOB is Jefferson, Costanza is Teddy, and Desmond is Lincoln.

The fourth spot is held open for now. If I had to choose it would be either The Simpsons or The Sopranos, but I bet something will overtake those in the next several years.

Gunsmoke
Hawaii Five-O (original)
The Carol Burnette Show
Not sure which one takes Teddy's spot.

After a little time to refect here are shows in the running for Teddy's spot…
L&O: SVU
The Andy Griffith Show
The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson
Seinfeld
Cheers

I thought about SNL & MASH, but they did stay strong for me all the way through. SNL has had its ups & downs. And as for MASH, they show got away from pure comedy and started trying to push an agenda.

As for characters or personalities:

Marshal Matthew Dillon
Andy Taylor
For 3 & 4, it's hard to pick between several: Johnny Carson, Hawkeye Pierce & Carol Burnette, Archie Bunker, Lucy Ricardo, Fonzie...etc.
