He'll need a rocket up his arse to catch that one!
Fun Facts:
They guy who played a-hole, Yankee first baseman Clu Haywood was Pete Vuckovich, the 1982 Cy Young award winner for the Brewers.
Most of Wesley Snipes running scenes had to be filmed in slow motion because Snipes was pretty flat-footed and slow.
Sheen hit the roids and got his velocity to high 80s.
Haysbert had incredible raw power, and hit all the bombs filmed in the movie, usually requiring no more than one take.
Frickin' love this movie.

So many good parts in this movie, but the one that gets me every time is Pedro Cerrano's first BP session.
Cerrano dropping bombs.
Lou: "Jesus this guy hits a ton. How come nobody else picked up on him?"
Asst: "Ok Eddie that's enough fast balls. Throw him some breaking balls."
Cerrano misses by a foot.
"Ayee!"

I remember some stories about how bad he was at basketball filming White Men Can't Jump... apparently Woody was pretty good though.

At least he has a 5th degree black belt in Shotokan karate and a 2nd degree black belt in Hapkido
He can't run or shoot hoops, but I don't think film editors need to mask his fighting ability.

I worked on a movie where Jerry O' Connell is supposed to be an ex-basketball star, but he looked like a spaz trying to play so we had to set up sessions to teach him how to at least look the part. I got there early the morning of shooting and was practicing by myself. The director showed up and saw me hit like ten in a row and I almost got cast to be the one to actually shoot the balls Jerry was probably going to miss, but my department was already understaffed, so I had to turn them down. Would have been fun, though.

My best friend is the head tennis pro at Maui Country Club...he gives private lessons to Woody...says he's very athletic and is absolutely, positively, without a doubt, one of the coolest mf'ers he has ever met or taught.

Love the movie
Calling BS on sheen throwing upper 80s. Roids don't make you throw harder. Endurance and recovery yes, but there are 150 lb guys throwing 90

Ricky Vaughn walking out the bullpen at the end of the movie is one of my favorite scenes! "I hate this frickin' song"

I see where you are coming from on this. Ron Guidry threw high 90s and he was a Buck-60 on a heavy day. However, Sheen played ball growing up and really wanted to immerse himself into the role. So he worked out, threw bullpens as much as possible, and got into as good as shape as possible. High 80s (which prolly means low 80s if we are being honest) is pretty doable for someone his size and decent bit of athleticism.

I've seen that confirmed by people other than Charlie Sheen, though.
Special features on the DVD talks about it, specifically how good of an athlete Sheen and Haysbert were.
