Apocalypto is my favorite movie ever so if you consider that a war movie, it has battle scenes, it should be #1

Apocalypto poops all over LOTR. Maybe you are biased because of the books but I am telling you, watch Apocalypto again and tell me any of the LOTR movies are better. That movie is perfection and Mel Gibson is a God for making it happen!

Say what you will about Mel Gibson, but damnit the son of a bitch knows story structure!

Glad to see you back, man.

Loved apocalyptco as well. But Zulu and Lawrence of Arabia are classics.

Original All Quiet on the Western Front, shot in 1929 and is still the greatest WW I flick ever. Apocalypto is a good movie but not a war film and no it is not in any way greater to LOTR which is in itself not a war movie.

All Quiet on the Western Front
The Bridge on the River Kwai is mostly about the Brits, but it does have some American and Canadian soldiers.

I watched The Front Line the other weekend. Pretty good Korean movie.

Not sure if it qualifies as a 'war movie,' but Schindler's List would be up there.

I was too busy making out with my GF in the theatre to remember if it was any good!

While LOTR is my favorite film, Lawrence of Arabia is almost unquestionably one of the 10 best movies ever made.
