While I am at it, how was water such a big problem early in the show but somehow there was a huge lake with a multi million dollar house on an island.

great point. They went to war over a well, but had a fresh water lake.

(this made no sense at all)

They use propane there and Bij Jim has a ton of it to cook Meth.

The power all comes from generators.

I dislike the majority of the characters on this show. Feel zero empathy or sympathy for them.

But a great line last night:

Barbie - "We both know what you are."

Jim - "A criminal?"

Barbie - "No, worse, a politician.

Maybe Brian Cranston will show up in season two and kill Dean Norris.

Wasn't the water in the lake bad because of some kind of pollution caused by the dome? I seem to remember something about that and all the dead fish floating in it

could have been boiled with all that propane they had.

Maybe though. Didn't think of that.

I'm guessing the rest of the earth will be destroyed and the people in the dome will be the last ones left alive.

I wish we could see what was going on outside the dome. I remember there was mention that China was ready to go to war with the US thinking the dome was a weapon. Now big Jim destroyed the radio so we won't hear the military anymore.

I do believe the lake was polluted with something at the time (and it was something that couldn't be purified, can't remember what and I'm certainly not watching it again.)

Also, remember when the nuke went off, and outside the bubble looked like a desert wasteland? But ever since, the grass and trees are green and everything looks normal when they show the outside.

I believe it was polluted with Methane. I seem to recall Barbie lighting a glass of lake water on fire. That was why the well was needed. They couldn't use or purify the lake water.

Wasn't a nuke, it was a MOAB, which is a conventional weapon. the destruction was likely only on the side of the city where the bomb hit, not surrounding the entire city. It is possible that post-bomb shots of teh outside of the dome were showing other locations. Of course I am reaching here since the shots taken from the outside POV when the dome when black then white both appeard to have teh city surrounded by green.

I think if you see a panned out view from outside the dome it looks like half of one side of dome is desolate and the other side is green. Seems like there would be nothing anywhere around but....

See my post above, it was not a nuke so there would not have been destruction surrounding the entire city. I don't recall exactly what teh outside POV showed in the episodes after teh bomb but if one side was green and one was destroyed that would be consistent.

It was a MOAB, not a nuke. but yeah the outside came back rather quickly.

Especially seeing that the dome hasn't even been in place for a month.

Okay Methane lake, I remember that now.

OK, I knew Barbie referred to it as a MOAB initially but I thought later they said something like, "what the blast doesn't kill, the fall out will." And I thought the black soldier told Barbie it was gonna be a nuke, China was all nervous etc. And then the after affects (on the outside) just seemed nuclear. But yeah, even if it was just a MOAB, the wide shots at the end showed zero damage outside the dome, at all angles. At least it appeared so in that final shot Monday night.

Lol from that linked Wiki article...

quote:

In the Under the Dome episode "Blue on Blue" the US military deploys a GBU-43/B (incorrectly described and depicted as a missile) in an attempt to destroy the eponymous dome over the fictional Maine town of Chester's Mill. It causes several miles of devastation outside the dome but has no effect on its target at all.

I stuck with the show because I thought it was only supposed to last one season. I'm over it.

I still want to know why he military is talking so much about Barbie on the radio and also how the utilities work (plumbing, electrical, etc). When the dome came down, it cut all the lines/pipes feeding the houses.

They don't have running water. A lot of smaller towns use septic tanks.
They have "Gennies" for power, they made a lot of references to generators.
