Thanks. I may end up taking her when it comes to the cheap theater by my house.

Really? I'm all for not wanting my kids to grow up too fast, but isn't this a little young for a 7 year old?

I really enjoyed this movie. It was refreshing to find a movie that had a bright future instead of the dark distopian world that is so popular these days. I think Walt would have been proud to call this one of his.

I hate preachy movies just as much if not more than most. IMO, this movie stops short of being preachy. Yes it does bring up a bunch of doom and gloom subjects, but it is the context of an attitude of pessimism. And this one girl seems to be the only one (at least in her surroundings) that is trying to imagine a better future instead of just bitching about it.

If there is a "preachy" part of this movie, it is more of a subtle jab at society and pop culture in general for an unending fascination with doomsday and the entertainment options surrounding that subject. I may be reading a little too deep into that though.

And one more thing to add, that little girl stole every scene she was in. She was amazing.

Anyway, loved the movie. I can understand some criticisms from a story telling and set up perspective though. I'd give it a solid 7.5 out of 10.

Can anyone explain the villain's motive to me?

These genius "scientists" are safe in their own dimension, cut off from Earth for decades. Why would they want to accelerate mankind's demise? Just to be dicks? They do not gain anything. They no longer have any ties to Earth.

I personally enjoyed it.. Didn't find anything about the movie incredible but the gadgets and ideas were something that resonated with me.. Brought my two children..6 & 10.. The 10 year old was bored while the 6 year old was fascinated and loved it.. Not surprising knowing their personalities . The 6 year old is imaginative and the 10 year old isn't..

Yeah, Damon. He gets a great story going and has no idea how to wrap them up with a bang. I left the theater a little underwhelmed. I wish there was more time spent in "Tomorrowland" while it was functional. I still thought it was a good movie.

Just came across this article

If We Want Original Films, We Have to Support Them

quote:

I was sad to see a lot of film critics and movie geeks out there tear Tomorrowland movie down. It gave us something very different from what we’re used to seeing get made with a good message, but a good amount of people out there looked past that aspect of it and focused on the faults. Most films have faults, even the ones that many of us love.

This is the kind of film that movie fans have been begging for, yet when it finally gets made and is released in theaters, they complain about it and bash it. This was an opportunity for people to come out in support of original film ideas, and praise its creators for trying something new. It was an opportunity to get other people pumped about original film ideas and show Hollywood that we are open to new ideas. Unfortunately that’s not what happened, and it’s a shame because now Hollywood is going to go back to being scared to pump out more original movie ideas, because of how this movie was received. Variety even wrote up an article on how Tomorrowland exposed Hollywood's originality issues and it includes several analysts and experts explaining why that's the case.

They weren't trying to accelerate their death. The machine already predicted the death of the earth. After that they made the machine give a perceived idea in everyone's head about doomsday and death in hopes that it would sway them to be better

Instead they ate it up and became more infatuated with apocalypse in shite like that.

Basically future guys knew world was gonna end. Subliminally told people on earth it was going to happen and no one on earth cared enough to stop it.

But once he was told that turning it off would lessen the effect and help Earth's chances he refused. He wanted to hasten the end of mankind on Earth for no reason at all.

So no matter how terrible a movie turns out, if it's an original idea then we should support it no matter what?

bullshite.

And if their idea of an "original concept" is a movie based on a Disney ride, they're on the wrong track.
