HBO just renewed Silicon Valley for a fifth season, but Vulture has learned one key cast member won’t be back. T.J. Miller, who plays tech incubator/marijuana maven Erlich Bachman is leaving the show at the end of the current season. “The producers of Silicon Valley and T.J. Miller have mutually agreed that T.J. will not return for season five,” a rep for HBO tells us. “In Erlich Bachman, T.J. has brought to life an unforgettable character, and while his presence on the show will be missed, we appreciate his contribution and look forward to future collaborations.”

Why would he leave? Is he getting too many movie offers?

I met TJ in baton rouge and got him info on a local comedy show. That mother fricker still owes me a beer.

Jk he's a really nice guy and I'm glad that he's been so successful.

Didn't I read on here that he was hard to work with? Or didn't show up a lot or something?

This sucks. Erlich is one of the strongest characters on that show and really will be missed.

Seriously, this is a pretty big loss. Maybe most of the show's best moments involve his character.

Yeah, and I think it's in serious contention for "worst movie ever" and is already the worst idea I could possibly think of for a movie: The Emoji Movie

I do love how that trailer ends with them literally admitting this movie is nothing but a pile of shite.

That is terrible news. I honestly didn't like his character at first but its easily one of the best on the show now.

That is going to be a tough tough loss for them.

Its still a great show but I wouldn't be surprised if Season 5 is the last season.

Usually I tend to not like the more outlandish and over-the-top characters in comedy series/movies. The ones that seem to try too hard are a big turn off for me. Erlich is one of the few that carries the show.

I wonder who will step in and be their 'incubator guide' or unless he some how finally strikes gold and rides off in the sunset (in the convertible yellow corvette) haha

More Russ Hanneman maybe? He seems better in small doses...

It was bound to happen. He's the next George Clooney.

I am curious if they wrote him off in the last episode? If not I think it will be a very underwhelming if they just jump to him magically being gone with some sorry excuse at the opening of season 5.

The show loses some of its variety of humor but mike judge is what makes the show work

Like Russ, they'll write new and funny characters each season. The show relies on the same dynamics but at the same time it's always fresh and creative

Galvin's megalomania
Guilfoyle torturing dinesh
What's his face the Richard suck up

Everyone has a role and no one is overused

I can't imagine the show without him, and I hated him the first few episodes

T.J. is a fun ensemble character but the show has so many interesting characters that they probably won't miss him as much as you might expect. Debatably, Bachman isn't even one of the four central characters.

I like Thomas on the show, but what else is he gonna do besides sitcoms and commercials? It's not like he's got leading-man or movie star potential. I foresee a lot of "nerdy guy" roles in sitcoms in his future.

TJ Miller has a wider range of potential as a standup comedian and voice actor. I'm looking forward to his HBO standup special that's coming soon.
