For the record, there are several black children in Ralphie's class.

The soap poisoning scene would probably be protested for the parents being so grief stricken about there son having no prospects in life because of his blindness.

They would have to squeeze in "not that there's anything wrong with it" when Flick licks pole.

Yep the black kids are there. Doubt they would have actually been there in 1930-40's Midwest. So that was added PC'ness.

And I thought the same thing this morning about the blinded scene. Americans With Disabilities would probably protest and Lifeboy would sue.

You realize the story is set in the 1930's, right? It's a memoir of a bygone time. Nothing would have to change.

Ralphie would be expelled and turned over to the authorities for wanting a weapon

Wasn't Ralphie dipping in the "Black Bart" scene?

Seriously, I really don't think you'd find many problems releasing this movie today. If it's a period piece, it doesn't matter.

Meh...remkaes of movies often take away a part of the original that was seen as "bad".

Bad news bears remake butchered the original by pcing up a movie that was 0 concerned about pc when it was made. In fact it was part of the comedy the lack of fricks given by kids and the lone adult

I dunno. I think if things like Southpark and Archer (and Beavis and Butthead and shows like that in the not too distant past) "fly" then A Christmas Story might get by.

White Privilege "A Christmas Story"

Don't worry, it's already been talked about.

I'm praying this is a troll job.

Mega troll job IMO. Applying today's semi police state perceptions where cops seemingly shoot first and ask questions later to a recollection of getting a BB gun for Christmas in the 40s is asinine to the Nth degree. This is coming from somebody who constantly gets shite at the office for being too liberal b/c I think cops do tend to treat the varying races differently due to systemic issues caused by long term divides the current generation did not create but still has to deal with until a bunch of old fricks that lived through 60s and their kids who grew up listening to their biases (on both sides) die off.

Movie was based in the year 1940. Wizard of Oz came out in 1939 and is featured in this movie. Plus there was no mention of WW2 which started in 1941 and would have surely been mentioned in some part of this movie if it took place during it.
