didn't some of the writers/producers/someone associated with the show say that some zombies would be more agile/quick/etc depending on the shape they were in when they turned?

I feel like this was discussed on one of the first episodes of Talking Dead

Maybe so. I just starting watching this series in season 3. I've been catching up on Netflix on Season 1 and almost through season 2. I'm admittedly a little behind.

Throwing this in there. When you swing a katana or any light sword you don't swing it like a baseball bat and just hit something. The guys that train with them are taught to pull back as they make contact. Thus it results in a cutting action with a shitload of force behind it. Decapitating or delimbing a living human is entirely feasible. More so with a person thats going through the first stages of decomposition.

have they given any details on the background of the governor? I haven't seen anything, but sometimes they say things on Talking Dead or in a webisode that fill you in on this type of stuff. Sounds like he was pretty miserable pre-zombie takeover

His name is Philip. All I know.

He didn't like his job though. Wasn't real proud of his life.

There is a novel out that ties in with the show's continuity that is all about the governor and his background. I haven't read it, but I think others here have.

I hate when shows do that shite, I don't want to go buy a novel for this type of info

i was ok with the way they handled the phone thing, it seemed like it dragged on forever in the comic. was also explaining the show to my wife who just started watching this season:
i like how there are things that are completely different in the show and comic. (i.e. daryl and merle). i like having no idea what's coming because even though there are characters that are same in both, their stories play out differently.

really liked the scene with daryl and karl.

The show didn't do a damn thing. The author of the comics the show is based on wrote the book due the high interest in the Governor after his appearance in the comics.

Nevermind. Don't even read that.
