Warner Bros. is my home studio and I love them so I was really bummed out. I wanted to work on that and I know the script is really fricking alley and I also know what’s gonna happen with The Joker and Harley Quinn in that; I won’t give away too much…it’s fricking alley. And that whole territory is something that I would certainly—I mean, everybody loves The Joker. Everybody loves The Joker. Will Smith is a dope guy, but everybody loves The Joker and that’s gonna, I think, be a very important film for fans.”

The best way for DC to compete with Marvel's movie universe is do the opposite of what Marvel did IMO. Marvel had this huge universe planned from the start so they had the luxury of telling origin stories. DC has the chance to make movies for comic book readers. We just want cool movies with the characters we love. No back story required. We are already familiar. I know it's not the safest strategy because the average movie goer doesn't know a lot these characters but I think it could work. Is the average movie goer even interested in why Killer Croc looks that way or how Harley Quinn became Joker's pet? Or do they just want to see a hot chick in pig tails and a cool looking monster dude beat people up?

I don't think you're getting the point across that you think are.

and how big is that demographic?

They want movies that make $1b like Marvel.

This.

And I hope they get it. Having a successful DC universe would be awesome.

No, it is at about pleasing comic book readers. That is what DC wants.

And Marvel didn't? Marvel did the near impossible, please comic book readers (mostly) while building a massive success of a series. Cake and Eating it.

(FWIW, there are always going to be the unpleasables, DC or Marvel. Someone's going to dislike it, so no need to grab a comment of some Marvel fan not liking the films. Of course they exist.)

Origin stories shouldn't have to be a priority. Comic readers know character origins and most movie goers don't care as long as they are entertained. Is that not the point I got across in my post?

this looks like its going to suck. Wayyyyyy too many characters IMHO, especially as they aren't going to be able to do much backstory on them. I would imagine that Deadshot and harley quinn will get the backstory.

They need those extra characters as red shirts. This is the Suicide Squad, who else are they going to kill off? Can't kill Deadshot, Harley, etc. in the first movie.

The DC Cinematic Universe keeps on expanding.

Hidden within a recent visit to DC Entertainment’s Suicide Squad set, new footage from the film’s production revealed a rather curious-looking police car. Upon looking further at the car’s details along the side, hawk-eyed viewers can see that cruiser belongs to Midway City’s police department.

In case you’re wondering, that’s a pretty big deal for the DC Universe. Midway City is home to none other than Hawkman, one of DC Comics’ major superheroes. As a member of the Justice Society and Justice League, Hawkman is one of the publisher’s oldest characters and carries a rich (though sometimes confusing) mythology. But Hawkman isn’t the only one to protect Midway’s streets. Another DC property, The Doom Patrol, also resides there, as does Hawkman’s partner, Hawkgirl.

I think that if that was really Margot Robbie, they wouldn't have had her wear that mask.

Hardy was in talks to take on the role of Rick Flagg, the leader of the Suicide Squad, but he was subsequently forced to drop out over scheduling conflicts. Joel Kinnaman eventually took over the role, but when Steve recently spoke with Hardy at the press day for Mad Max: Fury Road, the actor discussed his fondness for the script and concept for Suicide Squad (Note: “alley” means “right up there with the best”):

“Warner Bros. is my home studio and I love them so I was really bummed out.
