As a former WoW nerd I am definitely looking forward to the Warcraft movie.

You left out Spectre in November

Don't let the naysayers fool you, this list is going to be a lot of fun. Just because you didn't list any films where the actors sniff their own farts the entire movie doesn't mean that these movies suck.

Wow. I'm penciling in none of those.

Movies have turned TV-like with these franchises. Just have to wait a year between episodes rather than a week.
To be fair, you can call it Cinema returning to it's roots. Cinema started out as serials. There are like 25-30 "Blondie" movies alone, made from the late 30's to the 50's. It's not like serials are a new concept. You are bringing huge stories to life, telling a tale that can't be told in two hours, or with one film. Marvel is setting up a universe, and has multiple properties existing in it. It's cool that they pull it off so well. Franchises though aren't new, it's just finally they started making sequels and spin-offs that actually worked.

so basically its not just comic book movies that are going to get irrational hate, its any big budget film that has a hint of sci fi or fantasy.

Not at all. It's a bunch of predictable re-treads.

That's a completely abnormal conclusion.

So, is nobody going to point out the fact that the new Bond movie is not on this list?
Posted on 8/28/15 at 2:49 pm to demosa
I might see one movie on that list. Hollywood popcorn flicks don't really excite me.

The movie industry is all about franchises now.
For popcorn entertainment this is very true. But I doubt you are going to see a franchise film win at the Oscars anytime soon. Studios will still release great, non-franchise movies every year. The trick is to find them because they usually go straight to a limited release and stay there for months.
