The Lord of The Rings trilogy

I’ve been watching all three movies on Paramount over the past few weeks they’ve been on.
They have held up pretty damn well. The scenary is still incredible to see. I miss this time in the early 2000’s when this was the hot thing.

If you watch the extended versions and fast forward every scene that’s just Frodo, Sam and Gollem, it’s an elite viewing experience

Return of the King was released in theaters Dec. 17, 2003. Some of the effects look 20 years old but mostly they still look good. Thankfully George Lucas wasn't involved so we can still watch the original versions in 4k without a bunch of new CGI.

I agree man. They're awesome. I love getting stoned and putting them on going to sleep.
I actually do fast forward some Frodo scenes in the extended versions though.

Can't do that.
It's crazy ho much I hated these movies as a kid but watching them as an adult, I absolutely love them. All three movies are absolutely perfect. I'm a Godfather lover in terms of their trilogy (even though 3 wasn't great), but these 3 movies together stack up to any.

Back in 1977, my English teacher recommended that I should read a book called "The Hobbit", he thought I would like it given my love of fantasy and sci-fi.
I was instantly hooked and read the Hobbit and the LOTR Trilogy. I have read the LOTR trilogy through at least 3 times.
I thought the movies were excellent and I still remember my excitement at watching the battle for Helms Deep come alive on the screen in front of me.
Good stuff.

Saw Fellowship on opening night.
For a 3-hour movie at *midnight, the theatre was nearly, if not completely full. The audience consisted of mostly younger kids (teens, 20's) with a handful of those in their 50's and even 60's. And the rest in between. With a few folks dressed up in cosplay gear.
Have seen the movie many times over since then, but I'll never forget the part at the end where one girl quite genuinely surprised, shouted out as the credits started rolling "no way!".
So wrapped up in the story that she forgot this was part 1 of a trilogy. And it ended pretty much where the books left off.

Too soon. But it will be done eventually.
As long as whoever makes it doesn’t have an agenda other than sticking with the source material, it’d be interesting to see another version.
I bet you could make a true to the books version that had an entirely different look and feel to it. Not saying it would or could be better, but I’d watch it.

I agree that these movies are absolutely in the conversation for best trilogy of all time. The only other contenders that come to mind is the Godfather and BTF.
LOTR trilogy was awesome. My only gripe is that there was no Tom Bombadill (SP?) and I think the ending should have stayed closer to the book...where Saruman attacks the Shire.
Also didn't care for that gheyass reunion series when Frodo wakes up after being rescued from the Mt. Doom by the Eagles.
