Alexander Skarsgård
I support any movie where he is shirtless.

They didn't Wiff on John Carter, the Disney marketing team did.

Thanks - that post made me order the first 3 Tarzan novels on amazon.

We're going tonight. Thanks to Skarsgård, my wife is as excited as I am.

That was a fun movie.
Tarzan fans will love it. ERB was pretty repetitive with his Tarzan and Jane novels and this could've been another in that series. Plenty of familiar names and places in the film.
Samuel L Jackson was great. One of the better things in the film. Robbie was okay, Waltz was pretty restrained. He wasn't as cartoony as I'd feared. (Not the most threatening villain though).
Skarsgård was great. Not the totally confident Tarzan of the books, but still a badass hero.
The PC stuff that they wove into the story worked extremely well. It's obvious that they didn't want any black person coming across as badly as some did in the books and previous films. Tarzan did have a network of native "family" and friends in the books, so they didn't have to go too far to make it happen.
The CGI is a bit comic bookish in some places. All of the animals are CGI and some didn't come across as well as others. It's not a seamless, serious film. It's light adventure pulp, pure and simple.
Growing up watching Weismueller and Ely and the rest, this is pretty much the movie that I always wanted.

It's performing really well at the box office. Possible 45 Mill weekend. Praying for a sequel.

So... Is it worth going to see?

The CGI will turn some folks away, but if you're not looking for strict realism in your adventure movies it's a fun and enjoyable film.

I'd give it a soft 3 stars. Was a decent watch. But was missing something.

And Bo Derek gets nekked
Bo Derek was not in Greystoke. She was in the 1981 film, Tarzan, the Ape Man.

She couldn't do a decent British accent, so she was dubbed by Glenn Close. The ironic thing is that in the novels, Jane was American, as she is in the latest film.

Glenn Close is the only actress to "portray" both Tarzan's wife and his mother.

I'm about to watch this.

That was a lot of fun. The CGI was really well done. It was a slow burn though, so I can see how some of you kids might lose interest.
ETA: Samuel L was awesome.
