I was a little worried when I heard he would be ditching his "Colbert Report" persona. But wow, this show is great. Late night network tv is watchable again. It's great that he does more than just having one celebrity after another on the show as guests.

The band is good as well.

I'm not sure if I like the show in its entirety yet, but the two things he brought from Colbert were good choices

1) When he does that long riff on current events at his desk (without the persona is fine even thought that was hilarious).

2) Having real interesting guests which I find to be great. I bet there is at least some copying of this on other shows.

His ratings will never be Fallon-level due to his guests, unfortunately. The average American doesn't choose to see an interview with the Secretary of Energy over an interview with Kanye, which is sad. That being said, no one makes a conversation with an intellectual more engaging than Colbert. He's a really intelligent, gifted guy.

His Hunger Games bit is awesome.

I really hopes he keeps it throughout the campaign

In my opinion, Fallon, Kimmel, Conan, or Meyers are not capable of conducting a provocative/informative/insightful/witty combo-platter-interview like Colbert expertly & routinely does. He is a brilliant info-tainer.

Whereas, the others are simply entertainers; more Carson than Cavett (and there's a place for both styles). Their interviews of serious non-celebrity news figures are mostly met with giggling, fawning, pandering or pampering throughout their interviews.

Their skill-set is more guffaw than grey matter, so booking more scholarly guests would not be a successful move, imo, unless they want to get replaced by, say, a Jon Oliver or someone similar one day if the network insisted on copying the format.

Nobody in the late night game is quicker than Mr. Colbert.

He's the best. I was worried how he would go from the report to late night and I think he's pulling it off so far. I've never really liked late night talk shows but I have really been enjoying the late show since he's been on.

District Cheese

Trump from District Money.

I have been DVRing the show every night. I still like some of the Viral video ready stuff that Fallon does, but I really like Colbert's lineups and style of show. The weakest point for me may be the wind piano.

I love how he absolutely nails the HG host from the movie. He even kinda looks like him
