This is my main issue with the show at this point. Phil went from being just a dude struggling to make it as the only person on the planet to the worst person on the planet in just a few episodes. Carol is crazy and weird and everything, but at least she's genuine in her weirdness.
I think the last time we saw Phil do something that wasn't next level douche was when he fixed the water for Carol's tomato garden. I'm hoping that he can realize living with Carol isn't the worst thing and we can get comedy from more sources than Phil shooting himself in the foot in his attempt to get with Melissa.

I was REALLY digging the first handful of episodes, but it's starting to lose me. Phil is just too enraptured by blonde girl. I hope the last episodes really wow me.

This was one of my main concerns with the show, and I've said it from the start...it won't appeal to the masses AT ALL. And that's just because the humor is so finely tuned (most of America won't find the humor appealing at all).
Add into the mix that Phil is now turning into a piece of shite, unlikeable "protagonist," and it's a recipe for cancellation. I'd love to see it picked up by someone else though, because the premise is fantastic and there is definitely the opportunity for lots of comedy.
Also, I love the fact that Phil is sort of a bare-bones a-hole bro. I just wish there were also different sides to that (which we saw when he talked to Melissa at the bar introducing him to his ball friends). I also wish he'd give Carol a chance, because she's at least weirdly cute (barely), and is likely a freak in the sheets.

count me as one who gave up after last weeks show.
I don't regret it one bit. too many good shows on my list. I don't see this having staying power.

This show seems doomed to me. The show was going in the right direction when Phil was hot for Melissa, Melissa confided that she was horny, and Carol finally agreed/admitted that in order to repopulate the Earth, Phil and Melissa had to do it. Now of course they couldn't have the payoff—sexual tension helps to carry shows and the payoff usually occurs when a show is on its last legs.
So they introduced Todd. But the problem with the Todd cockblock is not just that it turned Phil into a desperate, unlikable guy. But also Melissa is getting her rocks off with Todd now, so that plus Phil being a unsympathetic jerk means that there's no way they can legitimately bring back any sexual tension between them.
So they have three sympathetic characters, and the desperate loser. Phil is George Costanza and Alan Harper, except they were secondary (or maybe it's more accurate to say they had equal importance to more successful counterparts) while Phil is the main focus of the show. They seriously need to find some humor and sympathy in his desperate state, because right now it just looks grim.
BTW, the scene where Phil drove Todd out to the middle of nowhere reminded me of that scene in House of Cards where Doug Stamper kept changing his mind.

I'm really enjoying the show. I'll be interested in seeing if they try to set up a civilization with crops or something. They can't just eat canned food forever. Also, they are going to have to bring in more people.

Before any of you give up on the show I'd suggest at least going to imdb and getting spoilers on the cast and how many episodes they're in. You can kinda start guessing at what happens in the next few episodes.

I actually think this show is getting better. Phil is not unlikable in a bad way. Hes unlikable in a Michael Scott way.

I could not disagree more. Michael Scott would make me cringe, but he could be very loveable as well. There were also a lot of other very likable main characters.
This show is Phil being an incredible douche with some very minor characters who are just...their.

Okay, I'm watching the two episodes from yesterday, and I'm liking them a lot.
There are several points throughout the episodes that crack me up big time.
Like when he pretends to like Todd's sculpture...he was ooing and ahhing and I busted out laughing. When he almost left Todd in the desert. The conversation about the cow. Todd finding the cow and then wanting to give the credit to Phil.
All hilarious to me.
Even though Phil is pretty unlikable most of the time, he cracks me up a lot.
And one good thing about this show I've noticed is that the commercial breaks are really short. Even though I DVR it, it's noticeable.

it was funny how he blatantly knocked over the sculpture in an effort to break it. only his sculpture broke off. everyone liked it better without him on it.

It's weird, I'm the opposite of yall. I've loved the show from day 1 but thought it's kinda lost a little steam. I don't dislike it now by any means, but I thought the last 2 were a little weaker than the rest. Oh well...I'm anxious to see how this season ends up. I know there's a break then it comes back the following week, is that the finale?

That scene actually bothered me a lot. If he would've broken the sculpture later in the episode, it would've been better for me. It just seemed so obvious that he broke it on purpose (to the other characters I mean), that it lost the comedic value to me.
I really wanted this show to work, but I agree with most on here that Phil's unlikeability is killing it. It seems like the past 2 episodes were the exact same. Phiil started it by hating Todd then found something redeeming in him by the end of it.

The funniest scene of the entire series was the very first bonfire with all 4 of them and talking about Shawshank. I died.
