Did not have any serious mental disorder besides being a prick.

Unless you count his vicodin love, which he beat and was still a badass doc.

Point being, he was just a brilliant doctor on his own.

There was a House episode where the patient was autistic, and Wilson told Cuddy he was sure House had Aspergers too. But it was never mentioned again that I recall. I tuned out a lot on the sucky last few seasons though.

I do remember Wilson speculating if House had autism. He 100% could have had mild autism.

Fwiw, my niece has scored on the spectrum before and she's capable of talking to people and doing normal tasks. You don't have to be an extreme social avoidance person to have it.

How old is this doc supposed to be? Is he the autistic Doogie Howser, or is he supposed to be regular age?

I liked it too. I just wonder how sustainable the plot is over a number of episodes. Looking forward to seeing where it goes from here. I like his unfiltered personality. Like when he was talking to that girl at the end and calmly called her out about how she treated him initially

Wasn’t a fan. So many dumb cliches. Ending it with the surgeon telling him “you’ll never operate in my OR” was confusing...what did he ever do to you other than tell you how to save a dying child?? I’m pretty certain people don’t use reusable surgical gowns in this country more. Lastly, why is there a committee constructed with top level hospital brass to determine a surgery resident’s fate? Did he not have to go through the Match?

I noticed some of that stuff, and that's why I wonder how sustainable this show will be. I did enjoy the first episode anyway but, more to your point, I notice when he was doing the surgery on the boy, he opened the 2nd bourbon bottle AFTER he sterilized his gloves when ideally he would have opened the bottle before sterilizing.

I also hated the cliched "I'm a doctor b/c [insert family member] died and then he gets a standing ovation

I apparently can no longer watch network drivel after becoming used to the superior writing of most cable and Netflix/Amazon etc series.

My wife and I watch the show because our middle son who is 8 is a high functioning autist and we see a lot of his mannerisms in the Dr. Shawn Murphy character and he will probably be like him except our son is obsessed with cars. We think it's a pretty good show but the way the character gets treated by the lead surgeon just makes my wife and I mad because we might see our son go through life's challenges like that. Other than that it's a solid show, but we just hope it doesn't get old.

Damn

Some of you people are so uneducated about autism

There's a reason why there's a spectrum
