Some people believe in the saying that all publicity is good publicity. This has certainly worked in the music industry for groups like 2 Live Crew, ICP, and Marilyn Manson. I think it will help Ghostbusters a little as well.

First I'm hearing of this. Thank you for starting this thread.

Anyone else have thoughts on this movie? We haven't really gotten into it yet.

I think the criticism was so harsh they're hoping on a bridesmaids audience to bail them out

Women who wouldn't want to see it go see it as a feminist, it's your duty. I'm not saying they should change anything about the movie based on the criticism, but the response from Sony and people involved has been...odd

Whether the criticism is legit or not, that doesn't make the critic a sexist all the promo interviews for this have centered around the "controversy"...that's helped some movies sure, but there is no controversy.

They're just happy people are talking about it. Look at this new Tarzan movie for example. No one's talking about that. Its gonna bomb. Ghostbusters will do ok.

also consider how they totally dropped the ball on the actual controversy surrounding the interview. they looked like total incompetent cowards with every course of action.

I hope it bombs, to be completely honest.

I don't want it to bomb, but I don't blame you. The director, a very well known producer, and Sony have made it their mission to piss off potential movie goers

I don't think its true.

There are a lot of movies that got "its a shitty movie" publicity and flopped.

The musical groups you used got "This is corrupting or children and is filthy " publicity which makes people go "i want to be corrupted lets do this"

It will make money. Your pathetic attachments to the original won't change that.

eh I don't think it looks that great, but i think it is unfairly being compared to the origional - and fans, like myself, like to blast this one because it is not the 1st one.

and its a skewed way of looking at it. I have decided I will go see it, it is is truly bad then it is what it is. if it is mildly enjoyable, then i would have gotten my moneys worth.

the biggest crime in all of this is the theme song by Fallout Boy and Missy Elliot - holy shite they all need to be hit by cars for that monstrosity.

I honestly thought the movie came out weeks ago. Is that wrong?

I think people just generally hated the trailer in a movie sense.

But once the SJWs came out and accused everyone of being sexist and homophobic...and fat shamers and racists...

Well, nobody wants to give money to a bully.

And this movie is like the poster-child of the SJW movement.

Watch it or be banned from society. Join or die.

Most women I know have no intrest in it.
I think Leslie Jones was a bad choice too, I do not like her "Angry black woman" style of comedy. She reminds me of my friend's mom Mrs Alice and it gives me nightmares of the meanest mom in the neighborhood.

I've not heard a single person talk about this movie in real life. Even when a commercial for it comes on TV, literally no comment. It's going to fail. I'm sure of it.

There's a new Ghostbusters coming out?

I don't think this board has ever discussed that.
