I watched it on a plane and was bored out of my mind

If you get bored watching a movie on a plane and would rather just sit there and look out the window, its not a good movie

Yes. Takes a few minutes to get rolling, but it's ultimately worth the watch--especially if you enjoyed films like Margin Call, Wolf of Wall Street, etc.

I enjoyed it...although I would have liked it more if there was more Margot Robbie in a bathtub

It's pretty solid. Interesting look at the financial crisis of 2008 from a perspective that I wasn't familiar. They do a better job explaining the background from a layman's perspective than most.

It isn't flashy and over the top, with a concentration on immature antics, like Wolf of Wall street. It has a more pragmatic approach. Some people need a lot of flashing lights to keep their attention.

Wish they would come out with more movies like this. Great content complimented by well known actors without shoving it down your throat like some Sara McGlachlan commercial for ASPCA.

If you search threads on here about this movie, you'll see me talk about how boring it looked and I probably will never watch it

Then I watched it and damn its a good movie and it keeps you interested the whole time even tho it's a long arse movie

Solid subtle approach to call goldennugget an idiot

I need to watch it again. I watched it before I started my current job and my current job is very much involved in this sort of shite so it'd be an interesting perspective now.

I work with a lot of people who dealt with a lot of shite in 2008 and I randomly brought it up and they have horror stories.

Like I don't know if the big short goes into the significance of money market funds breaking the dollar or any of that.

Yes - it's really good.

Might not have enough explosions and car chases, so simple minds might have trouble following it, but it's a great watch.

I prefer Margin Call, but this one was pretty good.

Probably watched it ten times. There's parts where the direction is a little over-the-top but it's very entertaining, pretty funny and sadly true.

The part where they're scouting the market in FL reminded me of living in Green Hills-Nashville with mcmansions dropping out of the sky. Electritions & plumbers knew what was up when they'd go on calls and see mattresses on floors.

It was also the first time I heard the term "stated income loan" from a friend that bought during the bubble.

shite, if you ask me, same thing is being done again.

I know quite a few people in the real estate industry who believe there is a small real estate bubble in a few cities. I know at least one firm is already preparing for it.

I also know someone who owns 5 properties like the stripper.

I'm also seeing commercials for no background check mortgages.

Yeah, it sure seems like it they want to rinse & repeat. I guess when the taxpayers are the only ones really on the hook they don't need to learn any lessons. Hard not to get mad watching this movie. And the notes at the end about banks still selling CDO's under the name "Bespoke Tranche Oppurtunity" is f'd up.

Also kind of unsettling that the only commodity Burry is investing in now is water.
