I enjoyed it. It wasn't my favorite super hero movie, but I was never bored. I really like Garfield's Spiderman, and I think the character is just written better in this series. It's definitely hard to top Spiderman 2 though.

I just continue to not understand the love affair with Spider-Man 2. They did a good job with doc Ock and that is it. Are the Spider-Man movies so bad that getting a villain right makes one movie the best.

The whole premise of him losing his powers because of emotional distress is a slap in the face of what makes Spider-Man great.

There are really 3 camps from what I've seen:

- Those that were able to get past the non-important plot holes regarding anyone outside the major 4, took it for what it was, and thought it was awesome.

- Those that thought it was pretty good and got a little annoyed by some of the choices they made.

- Those that hated it because everything about the movie sucked except Garfield.

The Garfield/Dehaan/Stone trio murdered the living crap out of the Tobey/Franco/Dunst (diff character I know, same premise) trio.

SPOILERS

I enjoyed how they set up Electro. I don't get why some saw him as some lucid uber-nerd. He was clearly very off despite being a borderline genius. The scene with him confused in Times Square was very well done. Even as Electro, he still reached out to Spidey (his only friend in his warped mind) for help. The torture only solidified his rage against humanity, who had been stepping on him his whole life. His only friend (Spiderman) had betrayed him. The Electro fights were an absolute joy to watch.

The Stacy scene at the end was so perfectly well done in my mind.

The kid standing up to Rhino was a nice little touch. The camera angles for that scene were very spot on.

Ending the movie without the Rhino fight was PERFECT. I was sitting there hoping, "please don't turn this into a squash scene, and BAM, credits."

And though it's already been said before, Garfield's Spidey is so damn good, I'd argue that alone makes this Spidey film better than any of the Tobey's. How could one possibly say the first 3 were better when the main character wasn't even done right?

I will admit. There was a TDK vibe to this movie, but I actually enjoyed that. Most of the Disney Marvel movies put the boxing gloves on. I love how Sony owns this property and lets Spidey fight in the Octagon instead of between the ropes.

I liked the movie. Didn't think it was fantastic, but overall enjoyable. Did it seem to anybody else that Garfield was either crying or almost crying the entire movie? Just seemed weird to me.

To be honest with you, my opinion of Spider-man 2 is dated. I haven't rewatched that movie in years. When it came out, it was one of my favorite superhero movies. So maybe my opinion would change if I rewatched it, but I think it holds up pretty well.

I enjoyed it. As some pointed out, there's some issues in the movie overall. But it didn't take itself too seriously. Would have liked to see Harry develop more until he turned in the GG. Maybe show some scenes of his childhood etc. They didn't explore his human side very much. You knew it was there from his early scenes with Peter. But then all the sudden bam they flip a switch and he's going on a killing spree.

The scene with Gwen Stacy was heartbreaking. I knew what happened in the comics, but that still was emotionally draining. They played really well off each other. Even when I recognized the scene, knew the outcome, I was still sitting in my seat thinking "Come on come on come on wake up".

That being said, can't say I'm too excited about the sinister 6 angle. Doesn't leave much room for villain development with Harry handpicking random criminals and saying "Here's xxx technology, go frick up Spiderman whom I hate for no real apparent reason"

We'll see.

4th Camp- I was terribly unimpressed and bored with ASM and have no desire to see ASM2.

For me, ASM was fairly thoughtless with everything (not plot holes, that didn't bother me). Obviously many liked it. So I'm in the minority, but I have no desire to see the sequel.

Maguire gets ripped on way too much. He was probably too corny, but Peter is a dork and he nails the dilemma the defines Peter quite well. That said, Garfield with the Raimi version (or just a Peter that isn't a navel gazing a-hole) would have been great.

And Spider-Man 2 is a top 3 Marvel movie. It has holes, but it is the quintessential Spider-Man movie so far.

I didn't think ASM was anything special corn tbh. Don't let that stop you from seeing ASM2. Completely different movie. One of the few comic book sequels that I thought destroyed the origin story, which is typically hard to do.

ETA: Corn, if you thought Garfield was good in one, he's even better in 2. It was night and day for me. The goofiness actually didn't feel forced and fit.

take out all the electro stuff and it could have been very good.

i think this is the main complaint most critics have. Most praise the acting of Garfield, Emma Stone and Dane Dehaan but say the story was just too much

Probably will only watch the 3rd because of Garfield's Spider-Man

Spider-Man is supposed to be a dork and a wise cracking smart arse which Garfield pulls off better than Toby

Toby had the geek Parker down from the first one and never really got out of it for 2 and 3.

Raimi's Spider-Man was more of the Ditko lovable loser.

Webb's Spider-Man is the Romita hip and cool kid struggling to make it in the world.

It wasn't trash, but I couldn't believe that they stole the Edward Nigma storyline from Batman Forever for Max Dillon.

I saw this movie a little while ago, and I'm just now getting around to posting about it on this board. I posted my opinion on another sight and it is as follows
quote:

What's the point of this movie? Spider-man........again!? Just as cheesy as the original trilogy. The dark tones that were present in the last movie are GONE. I just don't get the point of doing something that has been done so many times before.

People wanna talk about DC being desperate? Sony is obviously EXTREMELY desperate! Just..............perplexing.

And the people hanging around while a super-fight is going on and clapping and cheering followed by Spiderman with a fireman hat on? WTF!

Still no Carnage. Green Goblin, again, for the third time, with some kind of goblin disease? Spider-man has so many villains to chose from. Why, just, why?
And that's what I felt about it.
