Watching this on HBO and remembering what a classic it is

What's the boards thoughts on it?

It's long and can be slow at times, but I think it's very well done. One of Cameron's underrated flicks imo

Directors cut made the story so much better than the theater release

Haven't seen it in 20+ years but I recall liking it. Thought the embryonic fluid idea was interesting.

I liked it too but apparently the actors hated making it. Referred to it as "Abitch."

The Director's cut is the real movie. And I love it.
Love the soundtrack.

Set-up Cameron to have the know how to make Titanic, which was even more of a bitch to film. Its forgotten now, but Titanic was widely expected to flop, having massive overruns and delays during filming.

Directors cut is the better movie. It's a great sci-fi movie. It's up there for me with Star Trek TMP. Exploration and discovery.

I love the movie but I never saw the directors cut. What's the difference from the original release?

It's like a magnet for me; every time I see it on commercial TV I can't help but watch it again while I'm doing other stuff of course.

Ending has a much longer, more in-depth conversation between Bud & NTI's. Also shows a threat from the NTIs to humanity across the globe.

When you look into the Abyss, the Abyss also looks into you.

Always brings back memories of a sleepover party when we watched this just after it had come out in VHS. I had not even heard of it and was floored at the time by how awesome it is.
