I'm a huge Superman fan. My den is nothing but Supes stuff, from posters to figures. But, even I can't like this show and I really want to. And I get it - you want it to succeed, and it may for a bit, but it must improve a lot.

Smallville started off very strong and became my favorite show for 10 years (even through the crappier years). I could even take some of the character changes (except for superpowered Lana of course). This show, however, is weak to me, and the changes just bug the shite out of me - Jimmy Olsen is unforgivable.

Don't get me wrong. I really enjoyed smallville and I always watched it every friday. It after all has the GOAT portrayal of Lois Lane in Erica Durance and no one will ever touch her performance. But it just was not Superman to me as it skipped a ton of important developments in Superman's career and all of them went through Clark Kent instead. I mean Clark Kent battling Zod, Darkseid, Brainiac and Metallo and forming a makeshift justice league with B list characters is just unbelievable. The time for Clark to make the transition to Superman should've been around season five or 6.

It was a good fricking show for what it did but it still basically cheated Superman out of those milestones that Clark Kent was not supposed to face himself. It's like Bruce Wayne fighting the Joker and Harley himself or having some dalliances with Catwoman herself instead of as Batman.

Are you honestly saying that you would enjoy Supergirl more if it took the smallville approach?

I watched it for the first time last night. I thought it was actually pretty good. The acting is decent, and I like the Jimmy character. I think he'll play a bigger role throughout the season.

I hope that Supergirl has made a turning point in understanding her powers! She totally destroyed the Red Tornado and that was awesome.

Unless Hank was already an alien. Or an alien is posing as Hank.

Anyone notice that Cat referred to the POTUS as "She"?

Of course, because it's set in the same universe as "Madam Secretary", another CBS show.

Just kidding.

He's DC's Reed Richards.

Seems like this show is geared toward feminists. Everyone with any power is female and men are jerks or subordinates.
I wouldn't mind it so much if Supergirl wasn't so whiney and needy.

Spoiler from last episode

How did Red Tornado get his arm back after she froze it off? If the guy replaced it then it should be obvious that he was still in control. I didn't think he could regrow it.

How do people dislike this show but love The Flash? I got hooked on a couple weeks ago and will ride till the end (hopefully there's a Season 2)

I think the whole "teen angst" part of her personality is off putting to some. Her awkwardly wanting the strong, confidant, and taken guy while the insecure geeky guy pines for her is pretty cliche. I think that aspect of the show is what some people dislike.

But it doesn't bother me that much (although I do wish they would move past that). I like the superhero part of the show, and the whole Henshaw and DEO part as well. And I'm intrigued at what they are planning with Maxwell Lord. Heck, I've even started liking her interaction with Cat Grant.
