To show how grainy the first video was, i thought the black lady was a guy until I saw the official version.

Most Marvel fans would. However, DC and Marvel are two different beasts trying to do two different things with their shared universes. One wants to be light-hearted, fun, and campy. The other wants to be dark, fun, and melodramatic.

You guys are a riot

Who said anything about Marvel? Completely obsessed with making the comparison. I mean, it like HAS to be a comparison at every turn. This thread was nicely devoid of too many Marvel comparisons, yet here we are. From a post about a preference, with absolutely no mention of Marvel. Not even an implied one.

For what it's worth to you both, I just prefer the Batman: TAS versions of Joker and Harley. If she doesn't have that killer accent and call him "Mr. J," that's a loss in my book.

And I never said light-hearted and/or campy. Nor do I not want "dark movies." But one comment and BOOM! suddenly you can pick apart my entire preference matrix.

To be fair, Marvel fans do the same thing. I've always said that this DC vs Marvel debate is just dumb. If you're a fan of comic books you should want both properties to succeed. Because you know there's people out there dying for this craze to be over.

Yeah, but that would be kinda hard to pull off on the big screen and not have it be too campy.

The Marvel threads rarely end up as a crap-fest specifically because the "pro-Marvel" crowd, or those who prefer the movies SO FAR over DC, are less defensive, less prone to take things personally, and less prone to take comments in completely different directions. See that very comment for proof.

There's been nary a mention of Marvel in this thread until someone takes a comment out of context.

Just saying. (And yeah I'm a little defensive, because a few people want to constantly blame me and others for those very discussions, but look above. That's ridiculous.)

But a major theme of Harley Quinn is to be commentary on the very fandom of "superheros." She's the ultimate fanboy mirror and it's awesome. I agree she's not only that, but that's at her core. She's a super fan.

"Kooky" is probably the wrong word. That's too light. Joyously demented is probably better.

Yeah, it's their bread and butter. I've been enjoying Marvel movies, but they have been hit or miss. I don't think any of them are an abortion though (save maybe Iron Man 3), but I greatly prefer DC to Marvel. Really the only Marvel franchise I put on the same pedestal as a few DC franchises is X-Men. I'm just passionate about these characters in DC much more so than in Marvel, so when I see them fricking around with the characters, it gets a more emotional response from me.

Why would we want them to be Marvel? Hell, for a good portion of us that have enjoyed the Marvel movies more we are probably more fans of the DC universe. I know I'm more of a DC fan (outside of X-men, which was my favorite growing up really). But DC is trying too hard to be dark, and leaving out most of the humor that was in things such as Batman TAS, and the justice league shows, and is still in all of the DC animated films.

It doesn't have to be all or none, you can have some middle ground.

Anyway, trailer for this looks decent, though still really not a fan of the joker look. He looks dumb as hell, though I'm sure Leto will do a good job.

The amount of time Smith is out of the mask during that preview makes me think he'll be equally as bad as I think as Deadshot though.

Despite all the bitching about that still shot of him with the tattoos, I really can't wait to see his take. Fingers crossed for something Mark Hamill-esque.

I have watched the trailer about 10 times now and I am now excited for this movie. Yesterday before the leak had zero interest in the movie and now I wish it was coming out in 2015.

I dont get the hate for Will Smith from the trailer and it looks like he might have a major role in the movie.

Margot Robbie and Leto look like the are about to have their career defining roles. Leto's take on the joker just from the few scenes that were shown is unreal. I never knew Leto had that in him.

Ya think? Aside from Anchorman 2 and Jersey Girl, when has Will Smith ever not had a major role in a movie he was in?
