Spoiler space...

Apparently the actor who plays the Night King let it slip that he is after one person in particular. That is the reason for the trip South.

He has had multiple opportunities to kill Jon Snow. He even had a chance to kill Dany in his Dragon trap.

Who could he be after?

Jaime called it in season 1 (I think).

The war for Cercei's count.

Bran/Three-Eyed Raven. The only guy he has actively chased.

Definitely going with the Three Eyed Raven. There’s a reason the original was hiding out to begin with and working with the Children of the Forest (the Night King’s original enemy).

One of my fave theories is that he is pissed that men broke a long standing pact he made back in the day. (what that is who knows. Magic? Birthing dragons? idk)

To end the war, like most wars in this world, a treaty will have to be signed and a marriage will seal the deal so to say.

Maybe he's after some of that sweet dragon minge for his bride? And that, as king, Jon will have to offer Danny up to the Night's King to seal the pact.

Madness I know but it was some huge four part reddit post and I thought it was pretty awesome.

He wants Brann

I don't know why, though

Ooh, good theories about it being Bran. I hadn't considered that possibility but it would kind of make sense.

I keep wanting a tie back in to the fire and ice thing. Bran being the big target wouldn't be very satisfying unless they upped his value to something more than just aerial recon.

Furdik also played the White Walker that Jon Snow killed in the Hardhome episode.

Ian Whyte played the part in the first two season, then later played the Mountain, then Dongo and then Wun Wun in seasons 5&6.

He wants Bran, because Bran is his heir.

King's Landing has nice weather, great culture be it arts or sport, and some of the best dining in all the seven kingdoms. Why wouldn't the Night King be headed south for the winter?
